@jaystephens @ketanjoshi.co And then we have Australia's next great city, Parramatta.

It's a city that, roughly once a year, has a harbour...

This from Parramatta City Council itself: "From the earliest days, the changeable nature of the Parramatta River, and other waterways, has brought with it the risk of flooding.

"Today, our CBD is one of the most flash-flood affected areas in the country. Our challenge is to live with the river in all its various conditions."

And this from a top State Emergency Service official in 2019:

"A senior SES official has warned that Parramatta's CBD could be overwhelmed by a flash flood in as little as nine minutes, giving residents little time to evacuate.

"George Jeoffreys, senior manager for risk reduction and avoidance at the NSW State Emergency Service, cited the difficulty of predicting flash floods."

You had parts of Parramatta's CBD flood in 2020:

And of course there's pressure to put new high-rise developments right on the river edge: smh.com.au/national/nsw/sydney

Brisbane council pulls funding from music awards after winner gives anti-genocide acceptance speech.

If being anti-genocide is criticised as 'divisive', then being pro-genocide is being normalised, which is itself a crime under international law.

Yet another arts event being destroyed by child killing genocidal fascists that call themselves Israelis. Of course the garbage people that we vote in decided to start up.

Remember: Israel has deliberately murdered 1000 civilians since they reneged on the ceasefire to save Netanyahu from prison.

Yep, 1000 civilians dead to save a fascist from prison, but saying "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" is almost a crime in this country:

A number of my friends and acquaintances are dawning to the realisation that the world will not be going back to how it was a few months ago.
We are in a seismic shift in alignments: economically, geopolitically, and militarily.

The US is hurtling in a new direction and is proving once again, that it is not a reliable partner.

I'm not a fan of billboard Chris but this is ridiculous censorship

QUOTE

A Canadian father who campaigns against irreversible gender dysphoria treatments for children has been fined and arrested in Brisbane, in what has been described as a “worrying attack on freedom of expression”.

Chris Elston – better known online as Billboard Chris – was standing in Queen Street Mall with a sign stating “children cannot consent to puberty blockers” when he was approached by a Brisbane City Council worker who accused him of obstructing people’s movement.

The council worker went on to issue Mr Elston with an $806 fine for “obstructing or unreasonably disturbing any person lawfully using a mall”, a claim the activist calmly insisted was untrue.

Mr Elston’s sign reflects current Queensland law, after the state government issued a directive banning puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for new patients suffering gender dysphoria earlier this year.

After refusing to comply with the directive to remove his sign and leave the area, Mr Elston was approached by multiple officers from Queensland Police, who informed him that continuing to remain would lead to him being arrested and charged with “contravening” the move-on direction.
