I riffed on my favorite durum wheat loaf by subbing in 10% whole wheat flour, adding sun-dried tomatoes, olives, rosemary, and thyme, and baking in a loaf pan as opposed to a freeform torpedo. The results do not suck. #baking
I took a class for this roll cake. Heartbreaking to cut into it https://www.diningandcooking.com/2129376/i-took-a-class-for-this-roll-cake-heartbreaking-to-cut-into-it/ #baking
Any thoughts? It’s not identical to the inspo and I made the cake so big. I’m feeling insecure https://www.diningandcooking.com/2128707/any-thoughts-its-not-identical-to-the-inspo-and-i-made-the-cake-so-big-im-feeling-insecure-%f0%9f%98%ad/ #baking
So my son was pretty bummed he couldn’t help me with the previous cake I made, so we made a cake together for Father’s Day. I let him put the frosting on and then I cleaned it up for him https://www.diningandcooking.com/2128386/so-my-son-was-pretty-bummed-he-couldnt-help-me-with-the-previous-cake-i-made-so-we-made-a-cake-together-for-fathers-day-i-let-him-put-the-frosting-on-and-then-i-cleaned-it-up-for-h-2/ #baking

The cake Hubs wanted for today: "Ouzo Cake" his Mom's recipe. We have not had this in years. It includes retro ingredients like Cool Whip and maraschino cherries. But it's a taste from his childhood. I am not sure about this second sponge attempt either. It's so very light and the bottom layer seems to be under stress from the filling and the top layer. However, a bit of the cake fell off, and it tastes good. #Baking #Dessert
Next pie in the queue is sweet potato. This was the first pie I ever ate. There was always on in my granny’s home. And it was one my mom usually baked. Denser than a pumpkin pie, arguably less defined by the spices used.
This is the recipe I bake for family, based on the family recipe, but tweaked to eliminate a few regular problems sweet potato pie can suffer from, mainly stringiness and an unbaked bottom crust.
I'm spending wayyyy to much time making my own startpage for my browser.
I also now have two dashboard/landing pages - one on #notion for my to-dos/goals/progress (effectively personal data I want to track and a million checkboxes) and one for links (this startpage, in progress).
I like setting myself up to make good clicking choices, especially when I'm bored and refreshing my browser. I'd rather play geography quizzes or browse an #indieweb links page or my #arena or find a #baking recipe.
It’s raining again (should have saved my greenhouse jobs) but I managed to sit out with a spot of cake first. The first of the homegrown blackcurrants. Probably my favourite blackcurrant recipe.
I know the world is mostly awful at the moment. But I made some nice multigrain bread, with poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, linseed, and oats. It's very tasty and fluffy.
Mostly awful is still slightly delightful.

Done and already half of the tin gone
My mom didn't feel like having lasagne but when she heard I made a cherry strudel she couldn't resist
For the record this recipe with yogurt is absolutely delicious
I made my 18th birthday cake https://www.diningandcooking.com/2127368/i-made-my-18th-birthday-cake/ #baking
After making vanilla cream slices (kremšnite), and a blueberry cake with cottage cheese cream on Friday cherry strudel came next.
I have sent my eldest to the store on Friday to get puff pastry for vanilla cream slices but he got pastry for strudel
I had some cherries on the side and decided to put the two together. It will be a perfect addition to an afternoon coffee
I need to make an eggless cake for a colleague at work. She's vegetarian and doesn't eat eggs. I've never made one so I'm looking for a good recipe. #EgglessRecipes #Baking #Cake
