#Trump order targets barcodes on #ballots. They’ve long been a source of #misinformation

Trump’s #ExecutiveOrder seeking to *overhaul* how #USelections are run includes a somewhat obscure reference to the way votes are counted. Voting equipment, it says, should not use ballots that include “a barcode or quick-response code.”

Those few technical words could have a big impact.

@ZenHeathen @CStamp @SonofaGeorge @northernlights @pinhman @gemelliz I understand the idea of randomized ranking on #ballots, but that also has unintended consequences.

Plus, it makes it harder for illiterate and vision impaired voters. They can't inform themselves ahead of time on which position their preferred candidate is. ("I will tick the circle in the seventh row", for example.)

Don't frustrate them at #elections. If #voting is easy and positive, they hopefully will come back next time.

Very interesting. A summary for those w/o the time to read the full article:

There were 600,000 ballots cast in the seven swing states where the only vote was for Trump. Such #votes normally account for ~1% of all votes cast. This accounted for 7.2% of AZ votes and 5.5% of NV's #ballots (enough to #swing each state.) Also, to link those ballots to a person, The #ElongatedMuskrat's "million dollar lottery" to register voters only asked signees for their name & address, nothing else. 🤔
