We finished our 3-year #BattleForWesnoth #Genesys #ttrpg a few months ago. By then, I was out as #asexual and my spouse as #trans, which meant more open conversations about sexuality between us. Looking back at the whole campaign now, we saw that my wife’s PC, the outgoing half-elf/half-human ranger/bard Tric Manu is #aro and #ace. @KevinWortman I appreciate that they included a few goofy old-school monsters like the gelatinous cube and displacer beast. And hung a lampshade on the “#bards are useless” debate by playing it out onscreen. Importantly, these nods to longtime fans are explained in the text of the movie, so they don’t read as inside jokes or gatekeeping.
Surprisingly, Chris Pine and Hugh Grant deliver quite a lot of the clunky exposition about the lore of the #ForgottenRealms . They’re good sports.
