POLL: BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS:
I stopped celebrating my #birthday & expecting #gifts once I entered #adulthood. I only have a nice dinner, perhaps a fancy dessert, & wine. So, I don't fathom why many people continue on like this. In fact, it's actually a modern phenomenon. What about you?

What do you think? Do you still celebrate? How? Or, rather, when did you stop? And how do you feel about it?

If you do celebrate, do you actually want to continue or stop?

If you don't celebrate, do you wish others would know and share your celebration?

I've always had thoughts and questions about this, but I just came across an option to show the birthdays of people on my MacBook's desktop calendar, which are imported from my contacts. There are just too many, and it clutters my calendar, so I removed them. Many of these came from social media... where I would NEVER publicly share my birthday in the first place.

»Gmail Gets End-To-End Encryption From Google As 21'st Birthday Present:
[…] Google Claims To Have Invented An Entirely New Type Of Encryption For Gmail Users […]«

This is not an April joke and yes Google offers OpenPGP for Gmail Accounts. This is not difficult to set up but too many people are too lazy in my opinion.

I'm five years old
It's getting cold
I've got my big coat on
I hear your laugh
And look up smiling at you
I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch
And the tractor rides
Look now, the sky is gold
I hug your legs
And fall asleep on the way home
I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you're not scared of anything at all
Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today.

Love my big boy who will be FIVE tomorrow! 🎂

Today marks my last day in my 20s, I’ll be turning 30 tomorrow! 🎉
It feels like such a beautiful privilege to get the chance to grow older and wiser (?), I am very aware that many, many people did not get the chance to reach their 30s, and I consider myself very lucky.
I will talk about this a bit more tomorrow, but it’s hard to believe how far I’ve come in the past decade, and I can honestly say that I am the happiest I’ve ever been!

Here’s to, hopefully, another decade 🥂

Another birthday gift I offer to readers here: the first rose of the season bloomed in our garden today. This is a fragrant old rose we've had since the 1980s, when a sweet elderly neighbor in New Orleans, a Black gentleman named Mouton Bickham, shared a cutting with us. For years, not knowing that the rose is called Louis Philippe, we called it the Mouton Bickham rose. I love seeing it in this hand-painted vase that my favorite aunt cherished.
