A few minutes ago in a second hand shop I noticed a calculator under a bunch of others which had an ENTER key. Yay, it's an HP. No batteries. But for €2.50 it looks like a bargain so I'll take the risk. Brought it home, put new batteries in, and... it's not RPN !

If you, like me, are still using #calculators in 2025, the only sensible input method for such ingenious devices is the equally ingenious Reverse-Polish Notation (#RPN), and the only acceptable manufacturer of such devices was the original Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Vintage #HP RPN all the way, baby! Ah well, OK; new #SwissMicros RPN, too.
After looking for a long time, I finally found this #Sliderule, which belonged to my late father. Some of you will know that these #devices were used, before the advent of digital #Calculators, to perform #arithmetic operations such as #multiplication and #division to about three significant figures, by #scientists and #engineers.

This little mechanical calculator is one of my favorite objects. It came to me with what turned out to be a fouled 10s pin retaining ring; it was a bear to take apart, ‘machine’ a new part, and reassemble. But it works! And I love it!
Picked up this Casio FX-9750GII at Goodwill for $2.50. I don't do math but I figure it's nice to have on hand and I liked the colors. Popped in some AAA batteries and it works great. Idk how much of a steal it is though. #math #calculators

Weather is really weird at the moment, so lots of boot sales have been called off. Did manage a couple over the bank holiday, nothing amazing: some #Casio #calculators, not my usual type but nice enough, a Dymo labeller, ghost belt buckle and MarioKart 8 for the #NintendoSwitchYearInReview
I've used a Casio fx-260 all my life. It's always done everything I need it to. My 2nd favorite gadget ever.
But saw this for 18 bucks today. I thought the all-white look was pretty easy on the eyes, easier to read than the dark look of the fx-260. Went ahead and got it.
Never had a calculator like this before. Going from the 260 to this feels like going from a Model T to a Space Shuttle.
I'll probably never use most of the stuff on here, but if I ever need it, it's there!
