vox popsicle vox dei<p>I saw the Chameleons play Strange Times in Seattle yesterday, possibly the best rock show I've ever seen. This is partially due to a) a great album b) me knowing said album really well c) for the first time ever at a show I remembered to wear my glasses d) the band kicking ass.</p><p>However, the live show really made the album production seem too pretty. It just sounds great with an edge at top volume. Bonnie<p>It's been a rough week. Since it's Friday I thought I'd try to get a conversation going around music. What's your favorite song? Why? Does it just have "a great beat and you can dance to it"? Is it sentimental about a time in your life? Does it speak to your soul? I want to hear it.</p><p>Mine is "Swamp Thing" by the UK band The Chameleons. The first time I heard it I was probably about 16, on a mix tape made by a friend. It comes from the 1986 album "Strange Times" which (in my opinion) is one of the best albums of the decade. </p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/lYNHjmnlZbA" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/lYNHjmnlZbA</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>As someone with OCD, the song speaks to the way my brain feels when I'm in the depths of anxiety yet gives a sense of hope. It's a song that I still listen to often, and the imagery of the storm hits home. It's a beautiful, lush song that continues to sound relevant. </p><p>What's yours?
