BrittanyYay next one done. Finished <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SenseAndSensibility?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SenseAndSensibility</a> by <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/JaneAusten?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#JaneAusten</a> on <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Libby?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Libby</a><br> <br> Watching the film version with Emma Thompson a few months ago ignited my excitement to read through all her books for the first time. P&amp;P, Emma now Sense and Sensibility. I knew what to expect from the movie but I enjoyed it. My only gripe is Edward Ferrars seemed like such a bore I don’t know why Elinor held out all her hopes on him. I know English society wasn’t kind to poorer women etc but still, were there no other men at all at any of the places she went in London at least? Also the big love story of the book is basically based on two people who never do anything together. There was a lot of side-eyeing between the Dashwoods and the other women characters in this book which was funny at least. Probably liked better than Emma but still a rung beneath Pride and Prejudice<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/book?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#book</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/reading?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#reading</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/bookfed?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bookfed</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/classiclit?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#classiclit</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/bookreview?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bookreview</a>
Cody<p>I just finished N⁰ 73 of Penguin Little Black Classics as my first of the set to read. I love the story of Icarus. Scylla cutting off Nisus' purple tress to give to Minos has a certain fantasticism to it that's not often seen in contemporary lit. This was a breeze of a read at 56 pages and I'd recommend it to anyone facing a reading slump or just wanting a casual introduction to Ovid.</p><p><a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/penguinclassics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>penguinclassics</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/ovid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ovid</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/literature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>literature</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/shortreads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>shortreads</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/classiclit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classiclit</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Cody<p>I just acquired the Penguin Little Black Classics Boxed set. It's truly beautiful. I'm planing to read one or two of these a week and will be making a lot of posts about these in the near future. </p><p><a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/classics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classics</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/classiclit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classiclit</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/penguinclassics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>penguinclassics</span></a> <a href="https://bookstodon.com/tags/reading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reading</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstadon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstadon</span></a></span></p>
