I love this stage of a Clematis flower when the sun late in the afternoon is glinting of the yellow-gold spiral whorl of thick threads that are left after the petals fall off! Zooming in close on the thick golden-yellow threads show that they appear to be made up of 100s of smaller threads bundled together.
Shade-dwelling Clematis.
Good Morning!

When we came home from vacation the end of last month, I was sad to see the clematis in the front flower bed that had a lot of flower buds when we left was dead. Later I found that only the old growth was dead but there were new growth coming up. Now the new growth has pushed out a flower with more coming up. Plants are so resilient. I love them.
This is Clematis "The First Lady".
CLEANSE THE TIMELINE.
Lol. I was wondering why the Clematis jackmanii that I planted last year didn't flower. Turns out I was supposed to cut it to the ground this past spring or last fall because it only flowers on new wood. You learn something new every day. I wonder if it's too late to prune it for me to get any blooms from it this year.
Photo is of Clematis "The Vagabond", a very prolific bloomer in my garden.
Is it weird that I like clematis flowers better when they're in this stage?
