"Part of what makes it such a valuable tool is we can present to city councillors & people that care in #Calgary about shifting our city then we're able to show tangible examples. This isn't just pie in the sky stuff, it's happening in the real world."

And I did make a near fatal mistake: the so called ‘News Network’ is NOT a national Network but a private right wing propaganda channel.
I can’t belief I fell for it !! The channel is well known to me 🤬 👎 but in my research I got side tracked to an Australian channel. Bad work !! Moreover: Bad deligence !! And I apologize.
I still want this toot to go out because of the calm demeanor of Dr Kush Naker,
and forgive me for the unjustified outrage but I maintain to be right on THAT account.

I don't know what it is with a private right wing propaganda channel. and 'Just Stop Oil'. The Tv reacts as if stung by a hornet; as a bull on on a red rag.
Watch, or rather listen, to the questions this reporter poses. It's a disgrace, the prejudiced opinions beforhand. The interviewee remains calm and answers the 'question' professionally.

✅ Demand 1: No New Oil and Gas Licences – WON!
🚫 Demand 2: Just Stop Oil by 2030.
💚 We need a Fossil Fuel Treaty.
Carry on emitting today and hope at some future date huge carbon sucking technology will solve the problem. Yet we know carbon is killing today, and global emissions are still rising.
Oil is more valuable than our culture, our heritage, our bodies. More valuable than the beautiful web of life on earth, more valuable than home."

A typical [US] American reaction to a vegeburger: declaring vegetarians insane and being very sure of themselves. 😖
But: the vegeburger is not meant for vegetarians. We know better.
It's made for the carnivores when the cost of meat for the planet becomes unbearable. 😜

#AnimalAgriculture and the decline of #Biodiversity is one of the main factors of why OUR planet becomes unlivable

"Nov 18, 2024
It was a late-career epiphany that led “wacky genius” Pat Brown to abandon his academic career and commit himself to fighting global warming and biodiversity collapse. He did it, against all odds, by developing a surprising product: the revolutionary and delicious plant-based Impossible Burger.
Pat Brown is a preeminent biochemist and Stanford professor with a most impressive resume. He pioneered research into the AIDS virus, invented DNA imaging tools, and helped revolutionize open access to scientific research. Then, well into his successful career, he took a sabbatical “to figure out what was the most important thing I could do to make the best possible world?”
After coming to the conclusion that the impact of animal agriculture on climate change and biodiversity loss was unacceptable, Pat decided to do something about it. He ditched his lab and began working on the creation of the Impossible Burger: a plant-based meat alternative that uses 96% less land, 87% less fresh water, and generates 89% less greenhouse gas emissions than traditional beef burgers. Through groundbreaking science and unwavering commitment, Pat's work has not only transformed the culinary landscape, it is providing real hope for a more sustainable and ethical food system.
Now, having proven that plant-based meat can compete with animal products on the open market, Pat is jumping ahead to the next big question: What’s the best way to use the land that can be freed up from raising cows and other livestock? On a thousand acres in Arkansas owned by the Impossible Foundation, Pat and fellow scientist, Michael Eisen are boots-deep into a real-world case study on turning carbon-emitting cattle ranches into carbon-capturing forests that also promote biodiversity. They call it the Carbon Ranch."

Hot Mess is a consistently good podcast on where we are on climate action.* Episodes are short (25 mins), but the direct, no-fluff approach allows time to drill into a topic enough to put shape to its complexity

* "We" means Ireland, but much of the discussion has broader relevance

Get to the crashes faster with *maps*, AI bullshit, blood drive, try to make SUVs suck less. The Wayne State stroads thing sounds somewhat useful but probably will just get used to justify flashing lights at too-many-lanes unprotected crossings. We're at the stage where you need to get people to drive less and that means removing extra car lanes. Improved #transit is needed but really the decision is how we prioritize use of street space. #InducedDemand #FuckCars #ClimateAction #VisionZero
