Africa: How Do Coconuts Get Their Water?: [The Conversation Africa] Coconut trees are iconic plants found across the world's tropical regions. They're called "nature's supermarket" or the "tree of life" in several cultures because every part of the coconut tree is used. Its leaves can be used to thatch homes, its heart can be eaten and its roots have medicinal uses. newsfeed.facilit8.network/TJvB #Coconuts #TropicalPlants #Nature #Sustainability #CoconutWater

A very nice interview with a scientist who's mapped the ecological impacts of past coconut plantations on Pacific atolls: hawaiipublicradio.org/the-conv

It was fascinating to learn the different ecosystem effects depending on whether an atoll had random coconuts washing ashore and taking root, vs indigenous residents bringing coconuts when settling the area, vs coconut plantations that clearcut large areas of forest to plant a monocrop.

🥥 The coconut thing isn't intended as trolling, Kevin.
Eye just couldn't tell what plans you had for Teddy Roosevelt, who -- last Eye heard -- was deceased.
If you conjure up the #TuckersBalls hashtag, you'll see that Eye habitually use coconuts in my posts to be able to locate them in long threads.
(It's an homage to the manhood of US propagandist Tucker Carlson.) 🥥
