@crk5 I am probably one of the few people on earth with a complete collection of 11 Greg Kihn/Greg Kihn Band CDs. These were released in Germany in the late ‘80s. They are flat transfers from the master tapes, so they sound amazing! #GregKihn #GregKihnBand #CompactDisc #PhysicalMedia
Today I drove an hour to my favorite record/media store and traded in some LPs and a PS2 slim with games. Came home with 23 CDs and 2 Blu-rays. I'm currently ripping the CDs to FLAC and cataloging them on Discogs. I don't know why this all makes me happy, but it does.
Did anyone have a CD audio player back in the day that featured CD+G video output?
I got my first CD player in 1985, a Pioneer PD-5010 which had CD+G output, but I never had the cable and didn't have the tech sense to search for it beyond just the local Circuit City.
I never saw the visuals.

Felt like doing something different today. So went to my Discogs collection and clicked Random Item.
Now Playing: The Cardigans - Emmerdale
Of all the various CD variations (Blu spec CD ,XRCD,HDCD, SACD etc) this one clearly passed me by... LPCD.
Some quite analogue thinking going on with this one. #CompactDisc #HiFi ##CD #LPCD http://www.yanglining.com/lpcd_mastering.html
On March 8, 1979, Philips unveiled the optical digital audio disc, otherwise known as a compact disc. #compactdisc #nostalgia #history #tech #techhistory
I've been meaning to write down my thoughts about returning to collecting physical media ever since I started doing so over a year and a half ago. I thought it might resonate with some of you. https://blog.newfangled.live/why-i-have-returned-to-collecting-physical-media

I know folks love to crate dig for weird and wonderful vinyl obscurities, but I’m finding stocks are getting thinner, and sellers are asking more. So don’t sleep on the fact that compact disc was the dominant format for two decades, and cheaper to make for much of that time. Means there’s plenty of weirdness to discover.

Fun Fact: I own the number one CD, that has sold for nearly $5,000! #CD #CompactDisc #Discogs #Woodstock
