The Pharisees closely observed everything Jesus did, not because they admired Him, but because they wanted to catch Him doing something wrong. Similarly, the actions of good people today are often scrutinized by those with unkind intentions. This should remind us to live carefully, giving no one reason to criticize us. But at the same time, we shouldn’t be enslaved by other people’s opinions, especially when those opinions have no basis in God’s Word.

There is also a lesson here about how we should avoid spying on others, looking for faults. The Pharisees’ habit of constantly watching Jesus and His disciples to find something to criticize was contemptible. Instead of focusing on others’ flaws, we should mind our own conduct. Even if others don’t live as they should, we aren’t responsible for their actions. Our own uncharitable judgment may be just as sinful as what we are quick to condemn in others. ─J.R. Miller

#JohnKelly was #HomelandSecurity secy under #Trump before moving to the WH in July 2017. He worked to carry out Trump’s agenda for nearly 1½ yrs. It was a tumultuous period in which he drew internal criticism over his own performance & grew disenchanted & distressed by #conduct on the part of the #president that he considered at times to be #inappropriate & reflecting no understanding of the #Constitution.

The latest poll shows ♦️70 percent of Republicans ♦️support a #binding #code #of #conduct for justices that would
🔸require disclosure of gifts,
🔸prohibit involvement in political activity, and
🔸mandate recusal from cases involving conflicts of interest for themselves or their spouses.

Slimmer majorities of Republicans support the #constitutional #amendment proposal (54 percent) and the #term #limits proposal (51 percent).

Total support among respondents for the ⭐️code of conduct is 76 percent,
including 89 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of independents.

For the ⭐️constitutional amendment, overall support is at 70 percent, with 89 percent of Democrats and 72 percent of independents supporting the reform.

For ⭐️term limits, 63 percent of total respondents support the reform, including 83 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of independents.

When respondents were asked whether they support the reforms, 👉they were not told Biden proposed them.👈
