@ai6yr @lazygamereviews and @violenceworks did the #VT69 which can not only be hooked up to a #WiFi232 but also have a #Pi0(W) chugged under the hood for a #Cyberdeck-style #UX:

This is pretty great:

...mostly because it actually works.
Just gone through episode 2 of #DayGlowShow with @alexglow and @ishotjr looking at all things #cyberdeck and tinkering on the #picocalc. Thrilled to be briefly mentioned at the end! #famous!

What do you do before bed? Me, ah well I make a weird computer from a #pico running #picomite and an #m5cardputer running a Microcom serial monitor firmware... totally useless but a fun distraction! Could be the most ridiculous #cyberdeck
Thx to #etaprime for looking into the #ClockworkPi #uConsole with #CM5:

A precisely elegant Cyberdeck Handheld.
[Nicholas LaBonte] shows off a Cyberdeck Handheld that demonstrates just how good something can look when care and attention goes into the design and fabrication. He wanted to make something that blended cyberpunk and nautical aesthetics with a compact and elegant design.
Where the #ObliquePalette
Artcomputer is at today.
It’s pretty exciting. And this is the first time there’s a functional machine I can send to my Patreon xenophiliacs to mess with, janky as it might be!

Anybody know where I can find a reflective lcd screen that is readable in sun light? Like the one that #Beepy uses.
I want to build a #writerdeck / #cyberdeck with a raspberry pi and a screen that works in sun light. I had a look on e-ink displays but it seems like drivers to use them as primary monitor doesn't exist (or I couldn't find them at least).
Or if there is a place to buy a complete Beepy or similar?
Any suggestions are welcome!

I finally have my first #cyberdeck and it's not beautiful, but it works.
It's still amazing to me the original conception of the cyberdeck as a collection of cast off parts just isn't practical.
Everything pictured is somehow a bit special. Both screens are sourced from China, and together cost more than a cheap laptop.
The only thing cast off in any sense is the dell wyse 3040 thin client running it.
The knockoff of the pelican case cost more than a used chromebook.
Still a fun project.
The other day I posted about how technology design is boring now, just a slab with a screen.
This morning I stumbled across #cyberdeck and #writedeck projects and they look amazing! Some are so sleek they could be commercial products, some are literally held together with electrical tape.
I even saw one with a beautiful hand-made wooden case, switches instead of buttons and an actual key to turn it on!
I'm not very engineering-minded so not sure I could do it myself, but it's nice to see people still care. Combine it with #cassettefuturism and you're onto a winner I reckon.
