Well, she did offer him £2,500 'as a token of remorse' ....

Motorist avoids jail after crashing into cyclist while six times over drink drive limit and drinking vodka from 7Up bottle

"Pleading for leniency, the barrister had asked the court to treat it as an aberration by a young woman who made a significant error in her life but otherwise had a lot going for her."

Entire Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory committee resigns in protest of Bay Area city's safety plan

"disturbing disregard for the documented safety hazards faced daily by pedestrians and people on bicycles — an attitude reflected not just in the City Council’s decision-making, but in interactions with leadership in the Police and Fire Departments as well"

High on our list of gratitudes this April 2 are two faithful donors to the Bicycling Monterey work: Kathleen Jones / @Kleen and Martin Dehmler Fine Cabinetmaking. Both donated again today! Both know that regardless of what else is happening in our country or world, we can all find ways to keep on doing what we can, right where we are, to make our country and world a better place!

We don’t take support for this grassroots bike advocacy work for granted. Thank you, donors! bikemonterey.org/about/financi

This post is an open love letter to my #bicycle.

It's a titanium frame built by Bill Davidson, who has been crafting similar bikes for almost 50 years here in Seattle. It has one front chainring, because I just don't have any use for a front derailleur. The extra-wide casette has one of those new fancy narrow chains and electronic shifting. (Which kind of makes me nervous because it's difficult to service by myself, but for a couple years now it's been fine.) It has silent hubs made by Onyx - probably my favorite parts of the bike. The wheels are HED - nice and light but I run them with tubes - and the tires are Conti - it's funny how much they improve the experience. I was inspired by Devine's bike page wiki.xxiivv.com/site/bike.html -- maybe someday my bike will be as cool, with stickers from around the world.

I've been riding pretty consistently but I don't Strava or anything - quantifying my progress kind of takes me out of the reverie in the moment.

It's sunny outside today but I didn't even go for a ride - I took these photos instead. Not sure whether I regret that now or not... but I hope to see your #cycling content if you'd like to share.

“tariffs that make no sense to anybody who has ever worked in supply chains, done more than 15 minutes of research into global economics, or anybody with a basic understanding of taxation”
“There is no one company that makes its own frames, bolts, groupsets, saddles, bar tape, handlebars etc … I can’t think of a single company making all of those inside the US. So every #bike being sold in the US is likely to be impacted in one way or another” road.cc/content/blog/trumps-ta

road.cc · Trump’s tariffs might just tip the bike industry over the edgeAside from our little April Fools' prank yesterday, there is potentially very serious consequences for cycling if President Trump gets his way, argues George Hill
