I have reached maximum dad rock; kids these days:
- Don't know who the Traveling Wilburys are
- Have never seen an iPod (touch, not even retro cool, just a crap iPhone)
- Don't know about iPod 'docks'
- DAB whatnow?

PS: Yes, I'm cooking dinner, and no I certainly did not have to furiously, and badly, dust the shelf the radio is sat on for this photo.

Two Weeks in a Row?

I didn’t get my hopes up last week and everything worked out. Now we’re shooting for two weeks in a row. Should I be excited?

Last week we had our first band practice in months after more false alarms than I care to remember. After all the fails I refused to get excited about it until we were all actually in the room together. Once we were though… rock and roll bro.

Now we’re talking about practicing again tomorrow. One week later. Is it going to happen? Is it going to fall through? Are we on or are we dealing with another false alarm? I don’t want to get too excited. I don’t want to get my hopes too high… but we’re practicing at noon tomorrow and my stuff is already packed up.

Rock and roll, bro.

Yesterday, as we got into our Lyft ride, our driver apologized, saying “I’m sorry, i’ve been in a Led Zeppelin mood all day, so i’m just shuffling their catalog.” We laughed and I said to her, truthfully, “It’s all good. Ok, weird to stumble upon a new band from the early 1980s that i'd never heard of. The early stuff by The Strange is so good and definitely sounds like where Joy Division could have gone (listen to The Fatal Flaw), but then this solo song by the lead singer sounds like The National to me, but from 1992. Sad that he took his life. What a talent! #Eighties #GenX #GloomCore #DadRock
