Sometimes life serves up a conundrum. This evening was one. What to watch on live #TV? (I don’t stream). So my choice was World Series #Darts or Dvorak’s New World Symphony at the Proms. Went for the darts (you could have finished earlier Luke the Nuke) but earlier enough to enjoy the last of the symphony. Perfect.
Your 2025 World Matchplay Darts champion is Luke Littler. He's played some astonishing darts this week. Wade in the final was fabulous, but he didn't have that little bit extra that Luke did. Great tournament.
So close to another 9-darter from Luke. Still early, though. He may get another chance yet.
Great final so far. I really like both these players - Wade almost counts as local for us - but to really help keep growing the sport I want Luke to win a bit more, and if he doesn't hit a bad patch then he should do so.
Someone in the crowd at the #Darts final is being a complete cock and both players have mentioned it now. The annoying thing is, why hasn't anyone near whoever it is in the crowd kicked them in the head yet? Show some respect to the players.
Littler's not going to panic over this crappy start again, but it would be nice if he didn't have to step up a gear. The one thing going for him, though, is that he does have other gears. I think Wade is far more a steady player, albeit right now being very steady at a very high level.
How many missed match darts from Fallon? Eleven. Just ridiculous. Well done, Lisa. Women's World Matchplay champion.
Both players with missed match darts, but Fallon just creeps over the line past Van Leuven. It'll be Sherrock versus Ashton in the final and Ashton looked very good earlier.
