No, I totally meant to be brewing decaf coffee the past week. What do you mean I didn't read the label before I bought it? That's just preposterous.
SALE!! (for next couple of hours only)
The S-word is extremely rare from us. We rarely do sales but here's your chance to save 25% on the multi-pack. Four different #coffee bags (include a #decaf if you want).
So if you've been thinking of ordering from us but haven't got round to it yet, or stocking up, today is the day.

Promotion will run until at least midday (I'll manually turn off). No promo codes required.
Reason: We're all caught up and need something to do so keep us busy and buy yourself a coffee (or four).
The best #decaf #espresso I've tasted in #Berlin so far is being served in the #piro espresso bar in Friedrich-Karl-Straße, #Tempelhof.
Our new decaf coffees are here:
Atunkaa, Colombia sugarcane decaf https://roastinghouse.co.uk/buy-coffee/atunkaa-colombia-sugarcane-decaf/
Quetzal, Mexico. Mountain Water decaffeinated https://roastinghouse.co.uk/buy-coffee/quetzal-mexico-mountain-water-decaffeinated/
Norman Muruku, Uganda - sparkling water decaf https://roastinghouse.co.uk/buy-coffee/norman-muruku-uganda-sparkling-water-decaf/
Did you know we do really good decaf coffee? Since one half of the Roasting House team can't have much caffeine these days we're getting through a lot of it ourselves and it is incredibly delicious with a rich chocolatey taste.
We plan on stocking a wider range when we place our next big coffee order.

I got to wondering about how decaffeinated tea is made...
I found this page to be very helpful in explaining the techniques, along with a bit of history... (it even has a molecular diagram!! :-)
I made the transition to fully #decaf at home, and it's been a couple of months of only drinking caffeinated coffee occasionally, at cafés or in the office (so maybe once or twice per week, which is orders of magnitude less than what I drank before), and...
I don't feel any different, to be honest. I'm not sure what had I expected, maybe something like sleeping better, or feeling less tired, but no, everything feels exactly the same.
I'm not going back to caffeinated coffee, but still, I'm slightly disappointed
ADDENDUM, MEH: This is more a criticism of #ChatGPT. As work has been busy I haven't kept up with James Hoffmann's #decaf project. My initial query and two followup requests resulted in three lists of six videos, overlapping but not identical. I wanted the same results, with additional formatting requests. I'm also not confident that I have all the results I wanted. But I really haven't spent much time trying to make ChatGPT work for me.

"The Decaf Project", probably the only such large scale taste test that will ever be done with decaf coffee beans is underway, and is quickly selling out:
For anyone with an interest in #coffee, especially #decaf:

The coffee in this hotel taste like poutine (shit-tier) gravy. I get it, I get it, as a decaf drinker, I don't deserve nice things. And yet still, this doesn't seem right.
These days I'm 90% a tea drinker, and I'm trying to limit my caffeine intake for sleep related reasons. I drink one or two espresso-based drinks per week, at most - plus a few cups emergency coffee at school when needed.
...but I miss making and drinking good coffee at home. Because James Hoffman told me (in a youtube video, that is...), that "decaf can be delicious", I decided to give Dekaffa by kaffaroastery.fi a try.
A chemist explains the #chemistry behind #decaf #coffee
Three methods strive to retain bean's flavor while removing its #caffeine:
- Carbon dioxide
- Swiss water process
- Solvent-based methods
These methods remove about 96 to 97% of caffeine.
It’s chemically impossible to dissolve only caffeine without also dissolving other chemical compounds in beans, so decaffeination inevitably removes some other compounds that contribute to aroma and flavor of your cup of coffee.

The worst thing about decaf coffee is it being decaf. I'm trying to reduce my caffeine consumption, and have switch to decaf, but boy oh boy I get super drowsy after a cup of warm decaf. The drowsiness wears off after about 20mins of finishing the coffee and then I'm back to "normal".
Can this coffee be spiked with some sleeping agent?
If there were a coffee shop that stayed open after 2pm but only served #decaf coffee I'd hang out there all the time.
