Another #Country Has ‘First #Dibs’ On #Greenland Before #America: Ex-Envoy
#TomHøyem, Denmark’s former #envoy to #Greenland, cited an #obscure 1917 #agreement to make his #argument.
About a million years ago when I was on the night staff at Apache Point Observatory, we carried out regular, high-res spectro observations of stars searching for the carriers of the diffuse interstellar bands. It's great to see ongoing science from that project. When it started, the chemical nature of the carriers was still mysterious. Now we have a much better idea of the compounds involved.
@gsuberland I’m calling R:US;T. #dibs
RUST: Unsafe is Safe; Types.
@barrymusic The whole confrontation could have been avoided if the guy had remembered to bring a folding chair or box fan to hold the spot. #Dibs
Near me in #Chicago, there's a long tradition of "calling #dibs" on any parking spot where a nearby resident went through the trouble of shoveling the deep #snow away. Usually, people use a lawn chair or milk carton cube.
But some people like to do it with more flair than others.

Surprised to learn that there is no musical genre called zippercore.
I call #dibs on the perfect name for an AI assistant: The Uncanny Valet
One of #DIBs featured bios today is scholar Dorothy Moore https://www.dib.ie/biography/moore-dorothy-nee-king-other-married-name-dury-a10294
(The others are also 17th century women:
Boyle, Margaret (1623 - 1689)
Boyle, Elizabeth (1613 - 1691)
Barry, Alice (1608 - 1667)
Pulter, Lady Hester (1605 - 1678)

This is the only type of #dibs that I support. https://flic.kr/p/9hUL5k
In Chicago we have a long tradition of calling dibs on parking spots in the winter with random objects, like a lawn chair... or ice cream. This is in response to @AnneTheWriter's toot: https://mstdn.party/@AnneTheWriter/109784748380853420
