I've discovered that a bad actor and his associates (lead by hitch42) in the so-called "audio drama community" has spent the last several years erasing any and all references to my work on @wikipedia (who refuses to fix this) and trying to ban me from every known AD forum. It's extremely disturbing that one single person has the power to erase every known reference to you, stigmatize you without a fair hearing, and to even deny you the ability to appeal it.

#NationalGuard Ordered to Do #ICE Paperwork at #Immigration Facilities in 20 States

#Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to immigration facilities further blurs the line between #military and #LawEnforcement.

by Nick Turse, July 31 2025

"The Trump administration authorized the deployment of National Guard troops to immigration facilities in 20 states beginning early next month, further entwining the military in civil and law enforcement functions.

"The move undermines long-standing prohibitions on the use of the armed forces in domestic operations, sidestepping the Posse Comitatus Act and accelerating the U.S. transition into a #PoliceState, experts said.

"The National Guard will be deployed in #Arkansas, #Florida, #Georgia, #Indiana, #Iowa, #Louisiana, #Nebraska, #SouthCarolina, #Texas, #Utah, and #Virginia, among other states, according to a defense official who was not authorized to disclose the information.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement acknowledged it was now finalizing the parameters of its expanded collaboration with the Pentagon. 'We’re engaged with the Department of Defense and we’re figuring out the next steps,' Tanya Roman, an ICE spokesperson told The Intercept.

"Guard members will assist ICE officials in 'alien processing' – administrative work preceding detention — in 20 states while ICE leadership will 'direct' troops assigned to the mission, which will begin in early August, according to a memo first revealed on Wednesday by the New York Times.

" 'The National Guard serving as camp administrators for ICE’s infamous #DetentionCenters is a dangerous and shameful step for everyone involved,' said #SamRatner, policy director at #WinWithoutWar.

"The Pentagon told The Intercept that these troops will operate under so-called Title 32 status, meaning they will be under state, rather than federal, control, unlike deployments in Los Angeles and across the southern border. Experts say it hardly lessens the dangers to democracy.

" 'This move raises almost all the same concerns as using active-duty troops, and then some,' Elizabeth Goitein, senior director of the Brennan Center’s liberty and national security program, told The Intercept. 'This is yet another attempt to circumvent the #PosseComitatusAct, which normally prohibits the military from engaging in civilian law enforcement activities.' "

#BorderPatrol Wants Advanced #AI to #Spy on American Cities

A U.S. Border Patrol “Industry Day” deck also asks for #drones, seismic sensors, and tech that can see through walls.

by Sam Biddle
July 23 2025

Excerpt: "U.S. Customs and Border Protection, flush with billions in new funding, is seeking 'advanced AI' technologies to surveil urban residential areas, increasingly sophisticated #autonomous systems, and even the ability to see through walls.

"A CBP presentation for an 'Industry Day' summit with private sector vendors, obtained by The Intercept, lays out a detailed wish list of tech CBP hopes to purchase, like satellite connectivity for #SurveillanceTowers along the #border and improved radio communications. But it also shows that state-of-the-art, AI-augmented surveillance technologies will be central to the Trump administration’s #AntiImmigrant campaign, which will extend deep into the interior of the North American continent, hundreds of miles from international borders as commonly understood.

"The recent passage of Trump’s sprawling flagship legislation funnels tens of billions of dollars to the #DepartmentOfHomelandSecurity. While much of that funding will go to Immigration and Customs Enforcement to bolster the administration’s arrest and deportation operations, a great deal is earmarked to purchase new technology and equipment for federal offices tasked with preventing immigrants from arriving in the first place: Customs and Border Protection, which administers the country’s border surveillance apparatus, and its subsidiary, the U.S. Border Patrol.

"One page of the presentation, describing the wishlist of Border Patrol’s Law Enforcement Operations Division, says the agency needs '#AdvancedAI to identify and track suspicious activity in urban environment [sic],' citing the 'challenges' posed by 'Dense residential areas.' What’s considered '#SuspiciousActivity' is left unmentioned.
Customs and Border Protection did not respond to questions posed about the slides by The Intercept."

82-year old diabetic grandfather sent to Guatamala! WTF!

#ICE secretly deported #Pennsylvania grandfather, 82, after he lost his #GreenCard

‘I can see all my family is in pain right now,’ Luis Leon granddaughter said

by Kelly Rissman, Sunday 20 July 2025

"The family of an 82-year-old Chilean national feared he was dead for weeks before discovering that he had been detained by ICE after he misplaced his green card, according to a report.

"Relatives last saw Luis Leon, who lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on June 20, when he and his wife visited the Philadelphia immigration office to replace his lost green card, The Morning Call first reported.

"There, officers handcuffed him and took him away without explanation, relatives told the outlet. His family was left scrambling, contacting immigration offices, hospitals and even a morgue for more information on Leon’s whereabouts.

"Then, on July 9, Leon’s wife received a call that seemed to confirm the family’s worst fears; the caller claimed the 82-year-old had died.

"Thankfully, this week, his family members learned that Leon had been moved from a #DetentionFacility in Minnesota to #Guatemala. He’s now in a hospital in Guatemala City, the outlet reported. The Independent has reached out to ICE for more information.

It’s not immediately clear why he was sent to Guatemala. But last month, the Supreme Court left the door open for the Trump administration to deport immigrants to countries they have never called home.

" 'I can see all my family is in pain right now,' his granddaughter Nataly told The Morning Call. She’s planning to fly to Guatemala to see her grandfather, who suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and other conditions."

"While branded as "humanitarian relief," the reality was starkly different. Israeli soldiers encircled the sites, heavy weaponry...drones and surveillance aircraft...and cameras monitored every movement of the starving civilians"
"...tens of displaced Palestinians who approached...distribution sites near front lines have vanished without trace"
These "aid centres" may be an excuse for intelligence gathering.

Healey ‘demands answers,’ community members rally after ICE detains Milford high school student

The high school junior was arrested Saturday morning on his way to volleyball practice. Governor Maura Healey said she is "demanding immediate answers."

By Molly Farrar, June 1, 2025

"A Milford #HighSchool student was detained by federal immigration officials on his way to volleyball practice Saturday, prompting a protest of hundreds of people.

" 'It was shocking. It’s frankly disgusting,' said coach Andrew Mainini.

"The high school junior was arrested when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulled over a car full of students, according to multiple reports. The boys were on their way to an early Saturday morning volleyball practice; Mainini told Boston.com he initially thought they overslept.

"But, one of the student athletes texted Mainini, letting him know that the driver of their carpool had been detained by federal agents. The coach learned more details from the students Sunday, who said that upwards of ten masked people, who appeared to be ICE agents, began questioning the three high schoolers and scanning their faces with cell phones on their way to practice.

" 'These are high school students. They’re #honors and #APLevel students. They are members of athletic teams. They are members of the student council. They are members of the school musical ensembles,' Mainini said.

"Sunday morning, Milford families celebrated during the high school’s graduation ceremony. Afterwards, community members gathered to support the detained student at Milford Town Hall. The town, which is about 40 miles southwest of Boston, is nearly 30 percent foreign-born, according to census data.

"During Sunday’s demonstration, family members identified the detained student as 18-year-old #MarceloGomes, according to reports. He is originally from Brazil, and his full name is #MarceloGomesDaSilva, according to the ICE inmate tracker. The tracker did not say where he is currently being held as of Sunday evening."

@JuliusGoat

Also... it seems most/all of the masked "black-baggers" are #HSI agents, not the usual #ICE "Enforcement and Removal Operations" #ERO officers. ?!?

Apparently HSI stands for "Homeland Security Investigations". There is very little objective info on their involvement online. (I treat all .gov info on this topic as suspect.)

Based on bits of reporting I've heard, these are *investigators* and not enforcers. I assume using them as the equivalent of secret police is a tactical move by #DHS to misdirect and obfuscate.

Whoever they are, they should be in uniform with proper ID plainly visible!
