#FotoVorschlag: Sammelleidenschaft // Passion for collecting

As a kid, I collected used bus and tram tickets. And although the collector genes are strong with this one, I haven't collected anything worth mentioning ever since. Here's part of the #hummingbird collection in London's #NaturalHistoryMuseum instead, because naturalists sure had a passion for collecting back then.

I have seen a five-pound house rabbit chase down, pin to the ground, and "have her way" with the 12-pound cat in the way that rabbits do when establishing dominance. The cat looked horrified, like it was thinking "OMG, this thing looked so easy..."

Just because something's cute doesn't mean it isn't gonna kick your ass.

I really liked this tactile exhibit at Mammoth Cave National Park. It shows cave life to scale with a penny, and the models are really well done in 3D. The penny was sized to make the critter model display well, so even the tiny amphipod is tactically interesting even though the penny is mega-oversized (pennies are also in 3D for tactile pleasure).

Oooooh, neat! 25th-century alternate-timeline new display technology: a transparent glassy panel on which an image appears.

Regions of the #display panel that aren't displaying an image are transparent, like glass, but the displaying region is opaque and emissive.

And guess what? That now exists in real life, a few centuries early, in the form of the transparent #OLED display! youtu.be/l6O74AwrLf4

This sculpture (The Veiled Bride (19th century) is displayed at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, UK.
It’s regarded as one of Monti’s most iconic works, admired by numerous visitors & art enthusiasts for its historical significance in sculpture.
