Brett
I've just installed a page turner on my #ereader , so I can read and keep my hands warm under the blanket.

I don't know if that's the height of decadence or a necessity for readers in the #Canberra winter.

Taylor Drew
I just found out that there are people who have been switching from Kindle to Kobo because somebody somewhere said that it's indie and now there are people who think that's true. Friends, Kobo is owned by a Japanese billionaire and under the umbrella of a huge Japanese conglomerate.

While it's true that it started out as a small company in Toronto, it's most certainly not indie now (and hasn't been for many years). I hope that wasn't the main reason you chose it as your alternative, because you were lied to.

Disclaimer: I have a Kobo device and I buy the majority of my ebooks through their store. This post isn't a moral judgment. I'll just feel bad if somebody chooses it as their alternative based on false information.

#ereader #kobo

Chloe Tse :BlobhajSadReach:
I'm devastated that Pocket will be dropped soon. That's the main thing I use on my Kobo e-reader and the main reason I chose Kobo. I'm even looking to upgrade to a colour version. DeeAnn Little
Maybe a long shot, but has anyone gotten KOReader and Nickelmenu running on a converted Tolino to Kobo ereader? Originally branded as a Tolino Shine Color and currently running as a Kobo Clara Colour. Usually it's straightforward on native Kobo (Linux) and works after some jumping through hoops on older Tolinos (Android) but this one has me stuck. It's pretty much Kobo, but not all? I have already visited GitHub, Mobileread and e-reader-forum (de).

#koreader #kobo #tolino #ereader #askfedi

Everbern Neverlearn
My unpopular opinion of the day: I prefer my #ttrpg books (.pdf files, specifically) to be single-column per page. I realize multiple columns per page means less pages for printing, but it's also smaller fonts and more fiddling with ereader settings to make the thing readable.

If you're a games maker, and single column doesn't work for you, consider including an epub version of your books, if possible. Those are much easier to adjust.
