The only thing white settlers liberated was their ability to own everything else. Liberty for them was always a zero-sum fantasy.

And then came the Civil Rights era. The great audition for redemption. White #liberals marched, patted themselves on their back, then bought a second home in a Black-free zip code. Progress? Nope, just a facelift on a corpse.

Now in the twilight of #Empire, the mall has become the cathedral. Ritual replaced by retail. Healing replaced by hashtags.

I thought US obsession with the UK royal family was harmless until the queen died. Then , all of a sudden, it was impossible to ignore how many yt supremacist people and groups took her death very, very seriously. When I saw the uniformity of response from yt supremacists I understood that EVERYTHING about UK royalty, including “regency” was supportive of yt supremacy and that this “entertainment” was a gateway drug. #Racism #Colonialism #Empire #Royalty

i contend that both Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie were writing from very priviledged positions about the corruption and violence inherent in not just #empire but #capitalism.

Agatha Christie fascinates me because she was literally in the thick of it, writing about the corrupt “little rich people” (petit bourgeoisie) propping up Hitler and Mussolini with their wheelings and dealings.

it’s been illuminating to read Christie from the POV of her being a chronicler of UK-USA-EU #fascism.

It is ironic that while oligarchs live to control and dispose of governments, governments do the same. Free market ‘doublespeak’ = a captive market of monopolies. Real limits mean it is possible that they can be a bondage or a salvation, as the #Ouroboros being the symbolic representation of a snake eating itself demonstrates. We do not want empires.
They always rot, but while they do, they leave something alive in the revolution that replaces them.
Over time, those revolutionaries revive the empire and the cycle repeats.
We want to break free.
But that must keep happening while everything’s still good.
We must remember we are always becoming the empire.
Forever. We are it. We’re the ones who must keep ourselves at bay! Nobody will do it but us.
