It takes a significant number of resources and skill to provide a satisfactory safe place for multiple blind persons. This is being accomplished. ❤️

As a mother of two blind teenagers, it was so exciting to tour a factory setting that provides meaningful employment opportunities for the visually impaired.

We are blessed to have this in Wichita.

A few pics from our school adventure.

Jake a bit nervous about the field trip. We are standing outside the entrance, just about to go in. He does not realize yet that it's completely designed to optimize accessibility and comfort to him. He's chewing on one of his fingers while carrying his communication device as he cannot speak. He's looking off into the distance. He cannot see them but there were a large amount of geese in a small parkway but they were making a lot of noise. The communication device is an ipad with a green foam cover. There is a reflection of a school bus and flag visible.
The front entryway, Jake is slowly checking out the Christmas decorations. One of his classmates wheelchair is also pictured. We were a group with four wheelchairs. The wall is gray cement with bold letters along with a symbol art of two hands around a circle, Envision. There were poinsettias on the front desk. Although he's wearing his orange coat, it was at this point he decided he wanted to take it off and get comfortable. Bright red floor.

In addition to the factory there is an office setting for blind and IDD who may need a more sheltered environment. Here small tasks are performed with as much freedom as possible. Julia absolutely loved being able to sort and build things. Here she is pictured at a workstation. Two large plastic bins and a smaller one containing ink refills. They make pens as one of the products. Unlike Jake, she preferred to keep her coat on. She has one hand inside a plastic bin and is working on pulling out the pieces.

- Spent a lot of time outdoors. This is week 3 of a running program and it's been a great decision although very different than I expected. After years of chronic stress and COVID, I lost significant weight and so reapproaching a physical regimen was needed but terrifying. So far? 👍

The weather was gorgeous today and so many geese (not pictured). does have some wicked thorns.

Creek, very dry weeds and brush lining the murky water. Sky is cloudless and brilliant blue. There was no wind.
Outdoor trail, mostly dry, trees are now bare, dry brush lining the path.
I was snagged by thorns. My arm, gray sweatshirt, dry leaves on the ground.
Under a bridge, creek bed and a nice place to listen to chickens.

One of the photos from a recent walk. I was on a goose hunt. 😆 ~an enormous flock of geese arrived.

I have a couple of fun settings on my camera that I can use. This was one. Kind of reminded me of the unnecessary scary looking sky and dramatically shaped SM landscape that we're forced to endure.

The weather has definitely shifted here and I'm glad I took this last week off so I could enjoy the final few days of autumn beauty.

A few pics from yesterday, although it was an unplanned adventure and I didn't have my other camera. Just my phone. 😐

This is from the Sedgwick County Zoo Park.

Today is quite the opposite. I'm not ready for cold so even this morning I'm like on slow motion.

It's been awhile since I took the kids to a 'child casino'. 😆

I wasn't quite sure how they'd react, given the immense sensory overload. They 💕 noise. Sometimes. 🙃

This adventure they didn't want to play but rather roam the aisles. At one point, I thought Jake was overwhelmed. He took over Julia's wheelchair and started to run for the exit. But no... he just wanted to race push her through the maze of it all. I didn't think I'd get them out.

This typically happens.

My mood today. This was from the last Cheney Lake adventure.

- I feel stagnant and sometimes referring back to photos helps me recycle and push forward, not only with depression but writing.

Maybe it's just due to all the bad information I continually see on the internet. If people followed the 'tips' they would not be successful in life.

As an adventurer, it's hard to stay indoors during this time of year because the weather here in Kansas is gorgeous. But as a writer, the hashtag prompt challenges make life interesting.

Sunflowers and prairie grass with a shimmering gentle lake in the background. I'm continually looking for ways to improve SM experiences for multidisciplinary artists and advocates whose message is lost to the vast sea of 'alternative' misinformation. Mastodon is unique and provides the least amount of interference from outside parties and individuals. Yet it's not perfect. A work in progress, which is okay! Lots of friendly helpful people here. Over the last year I've been studying and adapting Mastodon to fit my unique SM needs as a parent and a writer who does not have a 'tech' background. Lately I've been trying to maximize the communication space in each post. The alternative text section provides an enormous amount of character space in order to provide additional context information. Not only does it assist those with visual deficiencies, but it also provides a way to enhance communication.
