"Irises," Sophia Crownfield, early 20th century.

Not much info is available about Crownfield, but I want to know more. She was born here in Baltimore in 1862 and seems to have received some artistic education here. In the 1880s she moved to New York where she became a highly successful designer of patterns for silk and wallpaper.

She wasn't just a dilettante, she supported herself and her sister with her design work, some of which would be in some of the best silk dresses of the period. She died in her New York home in 1929, at the age of 67.

Design needs to be appreciated more! Design is art!

When the autumn colours take over the ground plants and trees in Lapland it is called ruska, and that is what inspired my series of repeat fabric designs by the same name. The designs are available as digital all-over-prints on tote and drawstring bags. The tote bags come in two sizes, the larger of which has an inside pocket. Available at my online store, kaminenmosher.com/store/bags

Bold and colourful prints on a handy tote, now in a larger size with the all-important inside pocket for all the little items that you don't want to lose at the bottom of a bag. The beach tote is not just for the beach, it's for any occasion that you need to carry more stuff and want to bring along artistic flair. Available in the Fire Blot and Ruska fabric prints at kaminenmosher.com/store/bags

I wonder what software people use for #fabricdesign

I got really excited to find out there was a #photoshop extension but apparently it's been outsourced and then decommissioned. Then outsourced to another company, and then later the project was closed.

I would like to design some patterns and really don't want to get into CAD/CAM. What would you recommend? TIA.

Yesterday was all excitement in the afternoon, at least for me. My first bulk order of my Ruska series of fabric designs printed on organic cotton percale arrived from CottonBee! It was a joy to just stare at the full patterns and imagine what projects to use them in.

I hope there will be more orders for others to enjoy too - otherwise I might have a printed fabric hoarding issue.

Spotted out in the wilds of the garden amongst plantain lilies and fragrant catnip, the newly released Ruska 2 v2 Blue fabric design on a versatile drawstring bag. It fits the practical essentials one could need on a day out or a trip to the gym. It is available, along with other variants of the Ruska design on tote bags and hats, through my online store at kaminenmosher.com/store/bags
