I don't *think* I have any rot holes in the three trees on my property (though the cherry is a possibility). NYC iNat obs only start in 2023; likely gone unobserved until then.

Aside from being a new species record for my garden, my observation stands out:
* Earliest. No other May obs. FOY 2025.
* All other obs in green spaces: cemeteries, parks, natural areas.

The dandelions (𝘛𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘦) were out en masse at Thompson Park on our last hike, and there were many tiny critters fully enjoying them.

Clockwise, from top left:
1. One of many fields of dandelions
2. Hoverfly (family Syrphidae, species undetermined) on a dandelion
3. Tiny bee (probably a sweat bee, family Halictidae, species undetermined) on a dandelion
4. Two ants (family Formicidae, species undetermined) on a dandelion
