This is a really nice encapsulation of the song, and the original band, playing it live in a nicely captured musical moment.

Once again Grant Geissman doesn't go too far outside harmonically here with his guitar solo, but he shreds a monstrous one that will melt your face. Like on the original recording, it's almost more of a rock solo than a jazz solo.

Happy Winter!
Wishing you warmth, peace and happiness as the light returns.

Our new musical offering for the season is "Wonders Never Cease" -- a horn rich, bass forward, guitar sparkled, accordion laced instrumental with a sweet celebratory and exultant feel that suits this time of year perfectly.

I really want to buy a #flugelhorn this fall. But I can't decide whether I would actually take the time to rebuild the embouchure of yore, or if it would simply end up in the cupboard.

I have my bass guitar, but it's stacked away and 95% of the time I settle for keyboard bass. And there's the electric guitar, for simple rhythm parts, but I usually chop up an old loop instead. But brass is a different beast altogether. I imagine I'd put it to good use... Would I, though?? #pipeDreams

Part of my plan for my retirement/sabbatical is to really spend the time to learn jazz theory and then learn to play a few standards but also actually be able to improvise. Between my “native” French Horn, plus Flügelhorn, guitar and piano I need to train my ear to hear intervals and to get better at transposing - among many, many things. So far 90 minutes each day between reading/studying, listening and some playing. #jazz #MusicTheory #FrenchHorn #flugelhorn #guitar #piano

@brassmusic Welcome to The Hathersage Band Wonderful World Of Brass Instruments. This week it's the return of the #Mellophone but in a different guise to my first favourite. It has a conical bore like that of the #euphonium and #flugelhorn . This particular one was made by Carl Fischer in New York and is a "Symphony" model. It is in the key of F, but comes with crooks in the keys of C,D & E. So absolutely useless in a #BrassBand unless you can read Bass Clef with the big #Trombones
