The leftovers from the Intact Global Press Conference were donated to a local free store. Glad I was able to help prevent them from going to waste, and that a hot coffee or tea might warm someone's day.

I plan to continue to use the resources The Genital Autonomy Collective might have such as a table and chairs for tabling to help in mutual aid efforts rather than having them sit in the garage when we're not tabling.

At a local café and the staff were talking in support about Hadachek v. Oregon and Intact Global's challenge to expand protection from child genital cutting to all children including preventing circumcision of boys and intersex surgeries.

People are talking in support of genital autonomy this is not a fringe issue, less than 1 in 10 children are genitally cut in Oregon, and Oregonians are happy to fight for the rights of all children!

I shared more info with them such as our search for a plaintiff who has experienced intersex related genital cutting in Oregon.

"I’ve been speaking up against child genital cutting for almost a decade with limited success until I moved here. Portland, Oregon really became my home because we also talk to neighbors here, and we know them. We know that they’re exceptionally diverse, and I believe we’re proud to fight for human rights because we know that. [Pause]
Many people assume that I was not affected by childhood genital cutting, but childhood genital cutting, including circumcision, affects more than just boys and men."

# Hadachek v. Oregon Intact Global 2025 Press Conference
Please let me know if you find more news coverage on this. We at the Genital Autonomy Collective spoke about intersectionality at the Intact Global 2025 press conference and hopefully some of the news will also mention that. The Hadacheck v. Oregon case will expand opportunities for trans, intersex, and gender diverse people in ways that more people need to be aware of. Circumcision impacts gender affirming surgery options, and impacts our freedom as well, and we're fighting with the broader genital autonomy movement for our shared rights.

"Genital cutting is often talked about in the categories of male, female, and intersex, but those categories are not distinct in reality. People inherently defy those arbitrary boundaries. Because of this, many of the children assigned male at birth and subjected to penile circumcision, or other childhood genital cutting, are transgender, intersex, and otherwise gender-diverse
... Circumcision, by removing genital tissue and creating scars, physically limits options for adults seeking genital surgery. This stands in the way of our freedom to make the choice for ourselves as adults just like it does for boys and men. With attention and advocacy opportunities the challenge is bringing, The Genital Autonomy Collective is in need of more volunteers to help. While we welcome help of all kinds, we specifically need help with: Graphic design, web design, contacts with press, fundraising, social media management, writing, non profit experience, academic research opportunities, tabling events, etc.

Intact Global is also looking for Intersex plaintiffs who have experienced Intersex related genital cutting in Oregon at any date to add to the Equal Protection Challenge against forced, non-religious genital mutilation. As well as trans plaintiffs who have experienced penile circumcision in Oregon to add to the legal challenge.

May 7th Is World Wide Day of Genital Autonomy.

A day to raise awareness of a human right that is frequently violated in the western world through male circumcision and intersex 'normalization' surgeries. Also, while no longer widely practiced there are still over 500 thousand victims of FGM in the US with extremely few avenues for support since their battle is often thought as 'won'. There's similar disenfranchisement of the grief of everyone who has experienced child genital cutting including an *incorrect* association with the manosphere/faschosphere.

I host two explicitly intersectional support groups on discord, one for the intersection (violated) genital autonomy and trans, intersex, and gender diverse peoples. I also host a support group for other marginalized allies in the same vein. You can access these at our work in progress website. It's currently at 19 PT on Tuesdays.

May 7th is Worldwide Day of Genital Autonomy: Genital autonomy should be a basic human right, but it’s all too often infringed upon, such as with routine circumcision. On Worldwide Day of Genital Autonomy, we recognize this and advocate for change. Circumcision Isn't Harmless: Approximately 50% of penile skin is removed during a routine infant circumcision. This includes the most nerve-dense and sensitive areas. Not only can there be many physical complications during the surgery and in recovery, but the psychological affects are also heavily under-studied. Many people who had the surgery done to them as a baby report feeling mutilated and that it was a violation of consent.
Consent is Key: The pre-emptive removal of tissue is something very rarely found in medicine outside of genital cutting, such as circumcision. Only around 1 in 200 intact individuals end up having foreskin-related complications, and most of those only occur around puberty. Even when complications do occur, they can almost always be solved without circumcision. It should be a no-brainer to wait until something goes wrong to remove an entire body part, or at least wait until the individual can make that decision for themselves.
Why Not Wait? Everyone deserves the right to bodily autonomy. Making a decision to remove part of a child’s body before they are able to have any input violates that right. Many of the few benefits of circumcision are related to cleanliness when it comes to sexual health. When a child is born, you shouldn’t need to worry about STIs. Waiting until they are old enough to make an informed decision about their own body just makes sense.

SpringerLinkHappiness with Circumcision Status, Not Status Itself, Predicts Genital Self-Image in a Geographically Diverse Sample - Archives of Sexual BehaviorResearch exploring the impact of penile circumcision on aspects of body image is scarce and few studies have considered the potential roles of attitudinal factors toward one’s own circumcision status. The purpose of the present study was to assess the potential relationship between one’s circumcision status, happiness with circumcision status, genital self-image, and sexual functioning. The present study also examined how happiness with circumcision status varied across geographic regions. A total of 205 participants (102 circumcised, 103 not circumcised) completed a study through online recruitment methods. Participants reported being born in the United States (n = 80), Canada (n = 23), and various countries within Latin America (n = 22), Europe (n = 49), Asia (n = 13), Africa (n = 11), and Oceania (n = 7). Participants who were not circumcised reported significantly greater happiness with their circumcision status than participants who were circumcised. However, genital self-image, sexual body image, and sexual functioning did not significantly differ by circumcision status. Instead, participants who reported being happier with their circumcision status reported better genital self-image and less body exposure avoidance during sex, but sexual function did not differ by happiness. Although researchers hypothesized that happiness with circumcision status would depend on whether one fits in with the majority circumcision status within their region of origin, results did not support this. Participants who were circumcised tended to have less happiness with their circumcision status than non-circumcised participants regardless of region of birth. These findings support a small body of the literature which suggests that the psychosexual impact of penile circumcision may rely more on attitudinal factors toward circumcision status than actual circumcision status.

What is meant by this?

In 2012, on May 7, a German court ruled that male circumcision is completely in line with German law, leaving not only the Basic Law (right to bodily integrity) but also the decision about a sexual organ completely up to the parents. These often have little to no education and if "education" then it is studies from the year 1950. a 🧵
