Last year the local botanical gardens cut down a stand of several mulberry trees which I think I am still mourning. With the current springtime clearing of vegetation I checked to see if their remaining roots/stumps were visible. They remind me of sun-bleached skeletons of past beings.

I feel a sense of #grief I haven't in a while.

I miss my mom particularly harshly at the moment.

I think it's because I feel lost, when usually I am very self assured and guided.

With the #usa the way it is, the future is nothing but uncertainty, and when I felt lost I would seek her guidance.

She was amazingly wise after a hard life. Harder than most I know.

I can't now.

So I'll pray.

Not to any God, but to her.

Her words were more powerful than any holy book EVER was.

As I was brushing my teeth, I was thinking, "Oh, I've got to get downstairs to feed her," and then I remembered.

Missing her hurts. But the complicated, heartrending dance of enticing her to eat despite the pain is over. The time and spoons I'm getting back will help me heal.
