🎙️ In a groundbreaking revelation, 31,000 radio enthusiasts will once again pretend it's 1925 instead of 2025 by fiddling with antennas and "ham" radios in the woods. 🍖🚀 It's like Coachella for people who think Morse code is the peak of modern communication. 📞🔥

This morning I took a ride out to a #hamfest (a #hamradio flea market) which was being held in a high school just outside of Clinton, NJ, about a half hour drive from my apartment. It was on the small side and I was just about to leave when they announced that the pierogies were now ready in the little snack bar they were running next door in the cafeteria.
At four for $3 I couldn't pass them up and as I sat there munching happily a friendly (and a bit crazy) fellow joined me at the table. He was a real character and we got to chatting and I discovered he was a minor NYC celebrity, the Pigeon Meister of Brooklyn! #amateurradio

@godzero @ai6yr I'm in a similar situation and noticing that complete and concise recommendations for putting together an HF rig is almost nonexistent.

Some advice given to me was to look up a local #HamFest and go to their swap meet with some cash and a few ideas. But some basic used equipment and rinse and repeat until I can do what I want to do.
