It's freezing -3°C tonight and will freeze -2°C to -4°C every night for at least a week.

I won't get back to the boat for another 36 hours to light the wood stove, so I hope the electric heater, which I left on low, does its job. If not, this weather might be hard on the plumbing. It'll certainly be hard on me once I am back. 🥶

The elderly lady who is visiting the hospital next week for #chemotherapy treatment has now had a #FREE #gas #water #heater installed by our subcontractors.

This was totally free of any cost, with no charge under any circumstances to her, we now know that when she returns home after every treatment, she will have running hot water without the worry of covering the cost, or borrowing.

She is a lovely lady who deserves a break, her next door, #neighbour, called us and asked if we could help.

Wow! I really appreciate how this person approached creating this #SolarPunk #Heater. The steps and information are clear and concise. Especially like the layout drawing and setting the components in place.

I already have the temp controller and was wondering about relays when the demand is higher than the switch rating.

What is your favorite intro solar or electrical source / video for novices like me?

I got stuck, troubleshooting my #BTT #BigTreeTech #Octopus 1.1 mainboard, installed in newly assembled #RatRig #V-core #3Dprinter, running #RatOS aka #Klipper.

Both #nozzle (#extruder) #heater and #hotbed one do not warm up. Beyond all doubt (using external power sources and hairdryer) I confirmed that both thermistors, heaters and wiring are ok.

Under warranty, RatRig sent me replacement board, which I configured, flashed with updated firmware and got the same error.
I also tried to redirect the nozzle heater power to another pin (see in the config file at lib.tepewu.pl/f/8f1d29fe05d44c…) where I hooked up the multimeter. Nothing happened, when I set up nozzle temp to 50*C - after timeout I had the same error "extruder is not heating fast enough", thus klipper shutdown.

I cannot believe to have such a bad luck to got two boards with the same hardware fault (especially that steppers and hotbed probe work perfectly), so it is something I do not know - and I run out of ideas.

Please, somebody suggest something new. Hjalp.

It isn't going to happen where I am anytime soon.

#EVs just aren't practical for some people here. I regularly do a trip where I drive ~300km, stay for five hours, and drive home again. In the winter, when it's -30C, and you're driving into a (minimum) 110km/h headwind, you need the heater on full blast, all the way.

An #EV doesn't have a lot of waste heat to spare, so they need an #electrical #resistance #heater. Heat pumps don't work at -30C either.

new zine with updated instructions on diy building a copper coil heater, formatted for printing and reading, courtesy of @0batty_bat0 (love the design, the photos are super helpful!)

for production, print the formatted version duplex, short-side. if your printer lacks duplex printing, print odd pages first, then flip over pages and reinsert into printer, then print even pages. fold and staple in center at top and bottom.
