We had our lunch, Skye had some of mine, of course. We hung around for a while, naming the peaks we could see, watching the weather front coming in from the south. And then it was time to head back.
Water wasn't a problem this time as the summit ridge had a wee lochan which was still wet.

We met a few people on the way up. A guy doing the Cape Wrath Trail. A father and son, with big yellow labrador, and a guy on the summit who had come up the northern ridge.

Glas Bheinn - the grey green hill, can be climbed from the A894 near Loch na Gainmhich in less than 2 miles. Or as I chose on Friday, a 5 mile wander from Inchnadamph which passes through normally boggy ground and beside picturesque lochs to the rocky east ridge.

Gameshope Burn, Scottish Borders. Stunningly beautiful in my opinion and one of my favourite places. #hillwalking #hiking
Some of the summit views from Friday's walk to Beinn an Eòin.
There's an old adage that some of the best views of the mountains are from the lower peaks.
I gave her half of her lunch and a little water. That would have to do for now. We spent a while at the summit taking in the views, taking photies, and just Being There. I could have spent longer up there but mindful of the water situation we headed back down.
When we eventually reached the ford again I took Skye's pack off and let her have a good play in the river. She also had the rest of her lunch.
end.
Being up high for so long was one of those... you had to be there things. Utterly fantastic and otherwise indescribable.
But it was tough. The sun was beating down on us with little breeze, and I had to be careful not to guzzle the limited water I'd carried. Skye hadn't found any, all the usually wet puddles were bone dry. She only carried her lunch.

Although there was the odd watery hole to avoid, the dry weather made for an easy crossing of the bog.
I made a navigation mistake at the bottom of the gully. Skye (see what I did there!) went left on an easier and much more obvious path which added a bit of a dog(!) leg to the already 2.8km ridge. It wasn't actually any easier as we still had the steep paths above to climb.

Yesterday we headed along a familiar track but we had a different destination. Just after the stepping stones across Abhainn Loch na h-Oidhche there are a couple of large rocks and a wee cairn marking the path across the bog to Beinn an Eòin - peak of the bird. It was about time we climbed it.

Hey! Just wanted to share this view with you. It's from our usual #afterwork hike.
Well I don't even want to call it a real hike as it's just about an hour to the top.
Anyways. This is one of the nice views along the way. Enjoy!
