been getting really into HP Lovecraft recently, it's great. I started with Call of Cthulhu and Shadow Over Innsmouth. Now I'm on The Whisperer in the Darkness (IIRC that's the title??)

I bought a huge anthology for $1 off Kobo, also got The Necrominon

if anyone could point me to some really good stories of his pls lmk!! I'm mostly interested in the Cthulhu Mythos. Also I've got no clue about any authors after HPL's death, and which works are worth reading.

Anyone else here on Mastodon read extreme horror? I absolutely love it. My wife lent me Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite, and after that I was hooked.

Ironically enough, I absolutely hate horror movies and horror games. Books, though, I can handle. I had to take a tolerance break after churning through three or four titles but I want to get back into it soon.

Definitely not for the faint of heart, but they've provided some of the most memorable reading experiences of my life. The genre ranges from really well-crafted southern gothic to shock gore porn that is nonetheless entertaining.

Besides Exquisite Corpse, the most impressive book I read was Gone to See the River Man by Kristopher Triana. Compared to EC and other titles (notably President's Son by Jon Athan), GTSTRM is relatively tame in terms of content. But the plot and character motivations are phenomenally thought out. The twist is nothing you will expect. It's a very, very gripping read. I think I finished it in two or three days.

This week we had to bring in a guest host just to handle all the Spookymonth scares. Guest host P.L. McMillan weaves a spell with horror writers Angel Leigh McCoy and T.J. Price. The only thing scarier than this Story Hour would be missing this Story Hour! 7:00 p.m. PDT this Wednesday. #StoryHour2020 #StoryHour2020 #ShortStories #ShortFiction #AuthorReading #plm #PLMcMillan #AngelLeighMcCoy #TJPrice #Horror #HorrorLit #HorrorFiction #Bookstodon
