I just launched two #hugo sites. I didn't do much research on them, other than seeing that #hugo was newer than the other ones. I have been using web frameworks daily for more than a few decades, so i cheated and had #ChatGPT do the whole thing after going ever the docs in the site. So far, I like it well enough.

So I set up my new blog to use #Hugo as the backend. It creates a website from templates and content, and publishes static HTML and CSS into a destination directory. This means no backend and no database.
I read somewhere that people were using some sort of fediverse application for website comments. I need to dig further into that.
Our shop relies on #FOSS for almost everything:

#inkscape, #gimp, #krita, #imageMagick, #darkTable, #scribus are our tools.
Our website is handwritten HTML/CSS running on an on-prem server with #hugo and #nginx (launching in June).

My #opengraph social previews are failing to be parsed on #mastodon but not on other sites. Must be an issue in my #hugo setup. Have to troubleshoot this later.
@ahelwer I’ve been stuck on an old version for literally years. Every once in a while I think about paying off that tech debt before I have to hand the sites off to a successor maintainer. But I watch the new version announcements either their rapid deprecations (and the inevitable bug fix releases days later) and I figure why bother? #hugo
I've dusted off the Gemini version of my blog a bit: gemini://brejoc.com/
The blog is generated with Hugo, and I've added a simple gmi export now instead of doing some manual stuff. But of course, links are now broken and images show as code. I've basically just added a new layout, and I'm outputting the raw content now. Is there a better way to do it?
Why does Hugo have such bad commitment to backwards compatibility? Every six months I have to replace some random set of deprecated parameters. Today:
- .Site.Author -> .Site.Params.Author
- .Site.IsMultiLingual -> .hugo.IsMultilingual
- .Site.LastChange -> .Site.Lastmod (really?)
Like what feature or development was being held back by the existence of these old parameters? What a waste of time. Static site generators should not be causing this much grievance.
I think I have a direction on creating a personal blog that post both to the web and to a #GeminiCapsule . I am currently bulding a website with #Hugo .
Hugo ingests a pile of #Markdown files and turns them into a website.
I use a tool called #gssg to to the same think.
I think I can point gssg at the pile of files and create a Gemini Capsule that way.
