arise, I want tools that help diagnose #queries, understand the (mis)use of #indexes, and tune database parameters based on the situation. It also needs to support remote administration (without requiring SSH access), be natively supported on @Microsoft #Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), and come with portable tools I can easily download and use in build pipelines without needing to install frameworks like .NET or Java. Finally, it should provide clear error (cont'd)

It’s that #INDEX book again. (This is getting silly now.)
After being in TIME magazine’s and the Washington Post’s top books of the year lists, Dennis Duncan’s ‘INDEX, A History of the’ (for which I did the, er, index) is also one of the ‘100 Notable Books of 2022’ in the New York Times. Go Dennis, go #indexes, go #indexers. 🥳

Does your book need an #index?
Is the author the best person to do it?
Well, sometimes, but often not, for reasons of experience, skills, software, training and time.
So here’s an article I wrote for the Society of Authors: ‘Why you need and how to work with a book #indexer: a guide for #authors.’
Hope it helps!

My #PasteUp of Jane & her lover #Cherifa from 2009.

#index entry on Cherifa from Millicent Dillon's biography of Jane Bowles: A Little Original Sin.

p 236: "Cherifa...was handsome and had gold teeth. Like Janie she was unpredictable."
