Dark Observer<p>Thanks to <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/TalkingPicturesTV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TalkingPicturesTV</span></a> I'm able to watch the original <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/TheOuterLimits" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheOuterLimits</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/TV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TV</span></a> series from the 1960s.It can't be overstated how groundbreaking that show was. Not only Gene Roddenberry (who hung around the sets & later took some staff with him to <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/StarTrek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StarTrek</span></a> ) was inspired by its style & subjects but also none other than James Cameron apparently liked the episode "The Soldier" quite a lot ;-) And the cast! Future Star Trek icons <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/WilliamShatner" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WilliamShatner</span></a> (1x), <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/LeonardNimoy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LeonardNimoy</span></a> (2x) & <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/JamesDoohan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JamesDoohan</span></a> (1x) made appearances (also Grace-Lee Whitney & Michael Ansara) & the legendary <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/RobertDuvall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobertDuvall</span></a> also starred 2 times. The stories (esp. in season 2) dealt with numerous <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/SciFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SciFi</span></a> topics like aliens, space exploration, robot rights (I'd bet that the famous STTNG episode dealing with Data's rights as a sentient being decided in an exemplary hearing was inspired by the "I Robot" episode of Outer Limits), disembodied entities, future methods of warfare etc. Also notable: Black actors had significant roles, quite progressive for its time.</p>
