Had an exchange with someone on another forum who was arguing in favour of the UCP insistence that the Jasper townsite be expanded because multi-unit housing doesn't have "curb appeal" and they won't be able to attract families to the town otherwise. 🙄

FORT ASSINIBOINE WAS ONE OF A NUMBER OF POSTS that stood on the banks of the Athabasca River over the years. Although most of the Athabasca River posts were located in the #Jasper Valley, this one was well downriver from them. In 1823, John Work stumbled on this post as he was heading west to the Rocky Mountains and the Columbia River, where he would spend the rest of his life. #YorkFactoryExpress #AmWriting #History nancymargueriteanderson.com/fo

I always wanted to visit Maligne Lake because of Spirit Island. You can get there only by boat. The cruise is stunning - you see raw wilderness around you, sometimes someone in a kayak, mountains and trees growing around the lake. It was August but the weather was cloudy. In this edit I wanted to show you the atmosphere I felt that day. I hope you like it.

I visited Canada with my close friends. We spent some time in the Rockies. I always wanted to visit Maligne Lake because of Spirit Island (the photos are on the way). A point made in this article, albeit not strongly enough, is that Parks Canada has been doing fire mitigation work around the townsite for over 20 years. What is clear though, is they should have also pushed harder on FireSmart measures in the townsite. I know there was a lot of FireSmart work around various cabins south of town it seems less so in town.
