Had an exchange with someone on another forum who was arguing in favour of the UCP insistence that the Jasper townsite be expanded because multi-unit housing doesn't have "curb appeal" and they won't be able to attract families to the town otherwise.

A point made in this article, albeit not strongly enough, is that Parks Canada has been doing fire mitigation work around the townsite for over 20 years. What is clear though, is they should have also pushed harder on FireSmart measures in the townsite. I know there was a lot of FireSmart work around various cabins south of town it seems less so in town.
