For the past few months, my sites have been running much, much slower than the previous few years. In a post earlier today, I blamed my web host but maybe I'm wrong? It might be the fact that they're built on WordPress? I have a site that I've been building with straight HTML and CSS and it's running just fine.

I think instead of blaming my web host, who has been awesome for years, it's time to move completely away from WordPress. If, for some reason, I need a CMS, maybe I should finally get serious about moving to @drupal or @joomla, and everything else, build with HTML and CSS?

Today spent some time to prepare for #joomla 6 (released end of the year), but while addressing "deprecated, will be removed in Joomla 6" functions I learn that Joomla 5.3 itself still uses these 'old' functions (extensively). Afraid that if I refactor my extensions they stop working on Joomla 4 or even Joomla 5. Hope Joomla 5.4 has a refactored code base where it itself doesn't use these deprecated functions anymore... would certainly make me feel more confident in refactoring them myself

The May issue of Joomla Magazine is online.
There are many great articles waiting for reading: about blind spots in accessibility testing, magic tricks in CSS, using utility classes from frameworks, two amazing case studies, the conclusion of a long series on component development, three interesting interviews, the presentation of this year's Google Summer of Code Contributors, reports from JDayUSA, about GitHubs maintainer month, tips on how to set up a Joomla podcast and last but not least a short prehistoric essay by Brian about discovering footprints.

Joomla 5.3 isn’t a revolution, but it reflects a steady and thoughtful evolution of the CMS. This version focuses on refining what’s already there, improving consistency, simplifying administration, and enhancing the user experience across the board. Whether you are a site administrator, a developer, or a contributor, Joomla 5.3 brings a range of subtle but useful improvements.

@Puma_IT I see people using LinkTree but I've heard it's limited with how many. I'm all over the place and share my accounts based on the type of relationship. Like no point sending a client to my IG when I just post non-bus pics there etc.
I do wish Masto had groups.
