Because let’s face it child poverty can always wait…… funny how every new government bends over backwards to find new savings, cuts to public services and the welfare state…. Health care - safe in Labour's hands?

The capture of Labour policy on health is illustrated by the news that 'Labour Together', the right wing 'Think Tank' that has driven Starmer into power recieved more than £1M in funding from donors related to private health care.

So Streeting's pension is safe then. The NHS and by extension the SNHS are not.

Although I disagree with what I've read about her views on immigrants' access to benefits and to the NHS, I do think she is on the right track regarding taxation.

For quite some time the prospect of her assuming the Labour leadership has appealed to me.

I recognize, though, that Labour needs more than a change of leadership. Arguing for a political reorientation while faced with pressures of governing will probably strike many as unrealistic - but is there ever a good time for a rethink?
