Lest we forget: “With a multitude of eyewitness accounts, [Oliver] Eagleton [in “The Starmer Project: A Journey to the Right”] exposes #Starmer as an ambitious opportunist, neither a lapsed socialist nor liberal defender of human rights, but first and foremost a conservative representing the interests of British state”

CounterfireHow the right took back control of Labour: The Starmer Project reviewOliver Eagleton’s The Starmer Project shows the Labour leader to be a devious, self-interested defender of the conservative establishment, finds Terina Hine Oliver Eagleton, The Starmer Project: A Journey to the Right (Verso 2022), 240pp.

Because let’s face it child poverty can always wait…… funny how every new government bends over backwards to find new savings, cuts to public services and the welfare state…. If only there were an easy way for the government to get more money in …. But it’s simply doesn’t exist or they’d do it surely

Health care - safe in Labour's hands?

The capture of Labour policy on health is illustrated by the news that 'Labour Together', the right wing 'Think Tank' that has driven Starmer into power recieved more than £1M in funding from donors related to private health care.

So Streeting's pension is safe then. The NHS and by extension the SNHS are not.

#Skwawkbox | Labour cancels women’s conference amid ‘bonfire of equalities’ as Starmer goes full Farage

"Keir Starmer’s Labour has cancelled its women’s conference citing, according to party sources, the “political risk, security risk and legal risk” of proceeding with the conference after the High Court’s ruling on transgender issues. All Labour’s women are deprived of their conference in order to exclude trans women."

Although I disagree with what I've read about her views on immigrants' access to benefits and to the NHS, I do think she is on the right track regarding taxation.

For quite some time the prospect of her assuming the Labour leadership has appealed to me.

I recognize, though, that Labour needs more than a change of leadership. Arguing for a political reorientation while faced with pressures of governing will probably strike many as unrealistic - but is there ever a good time for a rethink?

Labour - futile gestures - after all a £35 brick is an enormous overhead on a new house and Starmer, Reeves and MacSweeney would like to be aid by developers...

Labour blocks proposal for ‘swift bricks’ in all new homes.

Providing every new home with at least one “swift brick” to help endangered cavity-nesting birds has been rejected by Labour at the committee stage of its increasingly controversial planning bill.

Labour - you can tell where their prioritiex lie - and it is in holding power rather than exercising it for ther common good.

This is telling

Sources said Morgan McSweeney, Starmer’s chief of staff, was opposed. “He doesn’t think they would be getting enough political capital with voters as a result of the money they would have to put in,”

Good at tactical electioneering, a failure as a human beimg.
