Oliver Jensen<p>Every time I do maintenance on my XTOOL S1 laser cutter, I'm blown away by how well engineered it is.</p><p>You ever work on a device thinking "i wish they'd have done X, this would be easier"? That's basically how the whole thing is designed, plus additional things you don't even think of until you see small affordances built into the design that you realize will help greatly when solving issues you didn't even think of. </p><p>You can quite literally feel the love of engineering in the product. The only other device I own where I get the same feeling while working on is my framework laptop. The S1 costs quite a bit more than others for the wattage and bed size you get, but it truly is worth the price difference.</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/lasercutter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lasercutter</span></a></p>

Andrew Crawford<p>This little display stand is an experimental prototype inspired by having made some tiny rechargeable lights. Lit from below, the 1-inch acrylic cube transmits the light to provide under-lighting for whatever sits on top of it. This could likely be done better with a custom circuit board with surface mount LEDs, but this was a fun way to make a quick one-off prototype without fabricating boards.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/Electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Electronics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/Maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Maker</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/LaserCut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LaserCut</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/LaserCutter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LaserCutter</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/Acrylic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Acrylic</span></a></p>
