Matt Godden<p>Here's a riddle for any electrically-minded folks; why do my formerly <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Halogen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Halogen</span></a> G9-bulb <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Lighting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lighting</span></a> keep burning out G9 <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LED</span></a> bulbs. They're not so hot you can't touch them while they're running.</p><p>When I switch the lamp on (or plug in a bulb when it's switched off), it causes a mouse a metre away to power / wake up. The mouse is on a powered USB hub, which is plugged into a powerboard, plugged into a UPS, on a different powerpoint. I can only assume it's an EM burst. Halogen bulbs don't do it.</p>
