Mario Alberto Guzmán<p>In <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macOSTahoe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macOSTahoe</span></a>, when you roll over a toolbar item, it highlights it in gray. But the weird thing is that sometimes that gray background has padding and other times it goes to the full edge -- and other times, almost touches the edge.</p><p>I know we're still in betas and still not fully addressed but I do wonder if this is due to using standard NSToolbarItem vs using NSToolbarItem's view property with a custom NSButton maybe?</p>

Mario Alberto Guzmán<p>Okay, I think I figured it out. </p><p>I can add a Visual Effect View that sits at the top of the window outside the safe area insets to give a nice blur to the map's content as to not interfere with the toolbar's titles and button titles (if shown).</p><p>But the visual effect has a gradient mask to avoid a hard-stop at the bottom.</p><p>It's so visually busy as now content flows behind the sidebar and the inspector and the toolbar should be translucent.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/AppKit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AppKit</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LiquidGlass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LiquidGlass</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macOSTahoe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macOSTahoe</span></a></p>

Mario Alberto Guzmán<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.panic.com/@panic" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>panic</span></a></span>'s app I tried to quickly mimic in this concept idea using Liquid Glass...</p><p> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Audion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Audion</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macOSTahoe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macOSTahoe</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LiquidGlass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LiquidGlass</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WWDC25" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WWDC25</span></a></p>

Let me start by saying this won't be a thing but I wanted to see if I make a window fully transparent, would a Liquid Glass view still show whatever is behind the app... and two, what would it look like if I made a music player that sorta resembled an old Audion skin... (Mastodon won't let me mix media types, so here's the video -- #Audion screenshot in the next post).

But I'm getting ideas for new apps #macOS that aren't necessarily square in shape! :)

Holy shit, I think it was the #AppKit team who fixed this but they fixed it for #macOSTahoe!

Basically, SwiftUI wouldn't persist the state of UI like scroll position when switching between tabs etc etc... and still doesn't. So I made a SwiftUI hosting view for NSTabViewController complete with NSToolbar.

Inside each TabView, I use SwiftUI again where each is a sidebar with a detailed view on the right. In macOS Sequoia, this would crash when switching tabs!

I think I might be unblocked now!

I really hope that Apple figures out light mode means light mode in Tahoe beta 6.

Maybe we need some "absolute light" and "absolute dark" switches. I don't want light on dark as core UI ever, unless it's beside full screen photos/video. The new Safari empty tab UI is hard to read for me. No reason I should have to deal with it every time I open a new tab. #macOSTahoe

Apple z akcją Back to School 2025 w Polsce, znamy szczegóły

Jako wszechstronną i bardziej przystępną cenowo alternatywę Apple wskazuje iPada Air z czipem M3, zwłaszcza w połączeniu z nową klawiaturą Magic Keyboard i rysikiem Apple Pencil Pro.

I don't hate Liquid Glass on the Mac, for the most part. But please, Apple, stop clicking the "Make the menu bar uglier" button. For fuck's sake. It's ugly enough. #macOSTahoe
