Now, to be very clear: I know a lot of really dedicated #progressives, #anarchists, and #socialists as well as full on #communists and #Marxists. I can work with all of them! We're generally pulling in the same direction. Hell, I have #liberal tendencies myself. It's hard not to when you're basically a product of the upper-middle-class, as I have to admit that I am*. But I've never been comfortable ID'ing with any one ideology.

*with an insulating layer of hippie thanks to my parents :)

The state is nothing but an instrument to brutally enforce inequality. Not only economic inequality as the #Marxists like to think but also political inequality, between those that decide and those that execute their wishes.

Just generally calling it an institution of oppression leaves doubt, because in the minds of many there are states that appear not oppressive, because people have been conditioned to accept inequality as is and will not challenge their state.

@HeavenlyPossum

I'm not trained in #Marxist theory, but I feel like there could be some interesting Marxist analysis of the surplus value / surplus labor implications of widespread federal layoffs in the U.S.

Do any #Marxists have thoughts on how this plays out and/or can anyone point me to existing analyses?

Discussions that explicitly connect the dots between the #socialtheory and implications for community organizers be especially interesting, if such things exist.

#Marxists are more afraid of being denounced as true marxists by their peers than having the courage to produce, revise, or denounce theory. With such cowards in the top level of a hierarchical movement to change the world no wonder we are in the bottom of the ditch with no way out.

Then we have #anarchists, who can coexist, half being anti-communist the other half silently incorporating classical Marxism and generic class theory.

"Hamas are ISIS" is annoyingly stupid but "the PFLP is ISIS" is fascinatingly deranged … this site says "Many Palestinians came to Iraq to fight in the insurgency and many stayed on with ISIS. This flag came with a lot of Iraqi OIF items."

The PFLP defending the Ba'athists from the Great Sheytan makes sense, but then it's weird, they're Marxists like Rojava but Rojava were on team #USA which they'd definitely not go for… a few probably ended up in ISIS because ISIS sucked in a huge array of misfits, but it's not a match for them joining on mass.

If any stayed I think they'd just be attacking the Americans while there were enough people shooting at each other for that to be nearly socially acceptable? Because "I don't care if we already lost, let's keep shooting" seems like their style?

Which I suppose if you're an American soldier, looks like they're ISIS?
