There should have been cats in Mass Effect 2.
*Commander Shepherd voice* You are my favorite cat on Citadel station.
(repeat with every cat and some alien thing that is very clearly cat-coded)

#JukeboxFridayNight is looking for #SongsToMakeUsSmile. This one's a bit niche to those who've played the game Mass Effect 2. One of the funniest moments in any game I've ever played.

And then the 8-Bit Big Band went and recorded the WHOLE SONG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxVekZRIWyg
What if Mass Effect was a 2D tactical shooter?

I recently finished a full #MassEffect playthrough, and was reminded yet again that after the ENTIRE GAME TRILOGY is focused on the end goal of destroying the Reapers, and the game drilling into you over and over how essential EDI is, AND how much work you put into making peace between the Quarians and the Geth and getting their support against the Reapers, it is an ABSOLUTE KICK IN THE FACE by Bioware's writers that the "Destroy the Reapers" ending of Mass Effect 3 forces you to sacrifice EDI and the Geth.
This isn't "choose wisely, choices have consequences later". It's sheer SPITE.
It's "Because FUCK YOU, player, that's why."
Mass Effect Andromeda actually has a much more satisfying ending. Yes, at the end of the game you know that the Kett are still out there, that Primus is still a threat whom you will have to deal with at some point, and that there remain unanswered questions about the Remnant. But you can complete the entire game without breaking your promises or being forced by the script to betray anyone just to force you to betray them.
The "fuck you" in Mass Effect 3's endings does not move the story forward. It does not punish or reward earlier actions and decisions. It's just a straight out "Heads, you lose. Tails? You lose. Coin lands on edge? You lose."
And that's bullshit.

Finished Mass Effect Andromeda again. I enjoy this game and the story. A great addition to the ME universe, something different.
Hearing rumors that ME5 might bring the Jardaan as evolved Protheans who travelled to Andromeda back to the MW as the BBE had me looking for possible Prothean links during the game.
Not convinced, but fun to think about.
Surprised there are no additional missions as mods. Sad too, would like to keep playing.
Phrase from Mass Effect Andromeda that I'm looking forward to using at some point in the future...
"Does a pyjak scratch its butt?"
Out of the various Mass Effect club mixes and beats in the whole series, this one is probably my favorite. If I could use it for the combat music, I would, there'd be a rhythm going with my tech attacks and Widow headshots.
@benroyce Wonderful news! Congratulations, Captain Anderson! #masseffect
And with that, my ME replay ends.
Destroy. Paragon Shepard lives. 8200+ EMS.
I probably will not play it again for awhile. I think I've had enough of a break.
"Just because I like you, doesn't mean I wouldn't kill you." Urdnot Wrex, Mass Effect 1
The Mako drove over the mountain. The Mako drove over the mountain.
If you've ever played Mass Effect, you probably understand exactly why this is in my head.
Starting my ME3 replay.
It's fascinating how completely different these 3 games are. 1 felt like an exploration in horror. 2 felt like a buildup to something huge while trying to navigate a bad group.
3 is like I'm in a movie. I can move the needle, sure... but it's very cinematic.
That's not a criticism! I like all 3 games - and I can replay any of them if I feel like a particular type of game.
Building War Assets and EMS! Where's Tali?!?!
My ME2 replay is done! Nearly 100% of the missions - only ones I didn't finish is some random Citadel - ID, and the Firewalker Frozen planet.
All squad survived, yay!
I reset my powers, except for the Assault Mastery. So I can reassign in ME3 for what I want. I also have max Paragon, and 300+ in minerals (140+ eezo), so I think I'm set for War Assets coming over from ME2 to ME3
Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya: They must have unearthed some kind of artifact that turned them into mindless fanatics.
My guess at the artifact:
ME2 replay - All is well with the Milky Way galaxy. I made Tali stutter and stammer, and pretty sure I saw the blush under that mask.
I'm in an N7/Loyalty/DLC grind now, building up to IFF and end-game. I'm close to having enough resources to fully build out for the final mission and to carry over to ME3 for 100 War Assets points.
Man, the foreshadowing to some of ME3 and to the ME3 DLC is crazy! The orb found in ME2 looks a lot like Leviathan orbs!
ME2 replay moment:
Grunt, Zaeed and I kill a Thresher Maw.
EDI says: "... killing the thresher maw has produced several breeding requests for Grunt.
... and one for Shepard."
Grunt: HA!
Shepard probably had that worried look.
What I find curious (OK, highly and absolutely aggravating) is that in the #MassEffect trilogy, we get to play a soldier - who has not a single tattoo on them. Nothing. Elite Special Forces soldier, and not even one iconic tattoo of that. And not even the modding community has changed that!
Like, come on, my current Shepard is a vanguard that answers charging Krogan by charging harder and faster right back at them to show them what's what, I expect her skin to look doodled fuller than the margins of a bored student's notes!
ME2 replay: Lots of guns.Lots of biotics.Doing things a bit differently.Paragon options much clearer.Vorcha are annoying.
[deep breath]
I forgot how much I loved Mordin.
The adventure begins once more. Different back story this time, gonna make some different choices and fix mistakes I've made in the past, like saving Liara's dad, not having Amanda at the reunion party, picking a different romance, etc.
ME2 replay moment:
"We're off to kick the Collectors right in their daddy bags."
