guyinahat<p>On other news, I figured out how to get more detail from my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/images" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>images</span></a> for the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyanotype</span></a> process I am pursuing. Basically the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CR2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CR2</span></a> image for the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Canon6d" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Canon6d</span></a> is 14bit so it contains way more than 256 layers of shade. So I have to use <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dcraw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dcraw</span></a> to convert CR2s to tiff, then open in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gimp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gimp</span></a> and play with the image until it gives me the shade distribution I am looking for... I have to extend the whites so that I can get the most out of the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mikeware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikeware</span></a> formula</p>
guyinahat<p>Today's <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyanotype</span></a> experiment was interesting 😀🤔. First of all let me tell you that <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/openAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>openAI</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ChatGPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ChatGPT</span></a> are such time wasters and Uber bad coders. I'm worse, but if I can tell these tools suck, I don't have to wonder what professional programmers think of them. Anyway so I had these tools help me write a calibration grid counter a few weeks ago. Then I stopped and started using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mikeware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikeware</span></a>'s <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/newcyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newcyanotype</span></a> formula for practicing....</p>
guyinahat<p>Apparently <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/peanutbutter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>peanutbutter</span></a> in excess can give you <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FattyLiver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FattyLiver</span></a>. I have it for breakfast every day. This guy says it's due to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/oxalates" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oxalates</span></a>. You know what else has oxalates? <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyanotype</span></a> formula containing <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ferricammoniumoxalate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ferricammoniumoxalate</span></a> like <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mikeware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikeware</span></a>'s <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/newcyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newcyanotype</span></a> formula. I'm sure it's not bad if you don't drink it or swim in it for a few hours. But I'm also aware that some <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/poison" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poison</span></a> reactions are additive. I'm gonna be wearing <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gloves" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gloves</span></a> from now on while using that stuff. I should have been from the getgo.</p>
guyinahat<p>Going <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyanotype</span></a> bonkers over here. Just printing stuff away. Making inverted images on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gimp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gimp</span></a>, then projecting them directly on the paper. I'm using the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NewCyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NewCyanotype</span></a> formula from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mikeware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikeware</span></a> <a href="https://www.mikeware.co.uk/mikeware/main.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">mikeware.co.uk/mikeware/main.h</span><span class="invisible">tml</span></a> and toning using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cambucha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cambucha</span></a> gone bad (<a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vinager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinager</span></a>) and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/greentea" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>greentea</span></a></p>
guyinahat<p>Yesterday I was exposing a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cyanotype</span></a> using the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/newCyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newCyanotype</span></a> formula from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MikeWare" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MikeWare</span></a>. I accidentally because I'm impatient decided to go ahead and expose it still lightly wet. And man that took like an hour to get anything on it. Then after development the image was blurry. I'm exposing the same image now with a dry coated paper and it works sooooo much better and faster. At 5 minutes the color is already on it. Just need to wait to solarize. Here you get to see my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/projector" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>projector</span></a> setup.</p>
guyinahat<p>I'm trying <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mikeware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikeware</span></a>'s 1995 new <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyanotype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyanotype</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/formula" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>formula</span></a> where you mix hot <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/oxalate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oxalate</span></a> with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ferric" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ferric</span></a> cyanide and remove the green crystals to form a single <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/emulsion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emulsion</span></a>.</p><p>It's a no brainier since it uses almost the same chemistry but dam it's fast. At least on the paper that I had success with the original cyanotype, this formula worked splendidly. Now I'm trying the photo paper where I failed before. It may work better? I added citric <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/acid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>acid</span></a> in the mix 0.02grams or 1 drop 40%. Again here using a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/projector" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>projector</span></a>.</p>
