Cunningham, whose music covers a range of styles under the electronic music heading, including dance, ambient, and experimental. House music played a key role in much of his work early on, although a sense of modernist experimentalism and minimalist tendencies were also quite prominent in his approach, pretty much making his EDM friendly recordings harder to categorize as straightforward dance music. His later recordings fall more overtly into electronic experimentation built on repetitive patterns, though he still likes to weave ghosts of dance oriented beats and house flavors in and out of his pieces. Note that his 2024 album Дарен Дж. Каннінгем is the Ukrainian spelling of his given name.

Their sound is not locked into a particular style of indie and keeps its fluidity as it shifts between introverted, contemplative pieces and upbeat songs that appear to be inspired by the work of The Smiths. Binkowski likes to mix '60s retro pop and '90s fuzzy alt-rock motifs, while on the vocal side, they add a siren-like enchanting finish on their own take of sometimes overtly Morriseyesque crooning. Their songs are melodically distinct in ways that help maintain a good distance from the stylistic template they have borrow from.

Her arrangements often involve a band with the basic guitar, bass, drums set up that accompanies her with a soft touch, mostly in the background. Her songs are typically in the low to mid-tempo range, tending to be fairly gentle, personal ones, and she sings them in her sweet voice without any frills. Most of the arrangements are straightforward with respect to instrumentation, and she delivers them with a sense of direct connection with her audience. There is a touch of old-fashioned country in her sound, and occasional passages that suggest hints of gospel and soul influences, but by and large, she operates very much in the folk vein.

So her music comes with a lot of know-how, fine-tuning, and high production values. In the past decade or so, the focus of her music has been almost exclusively on a glorious combination of disco, house, electronic music, and pop, putting together songs, melodies, and hooks that tap into all-time pop greatness, and having people move to her grooves. Her work in the '10s was more closely coupled with electronic and synth pop, with the dance element weaving in and out of her songs. Prior to that, she was creating top-shelf pop (whether solo or with Moloko) that drew from a diverse array of sources including bits of jazz, glimpses of jungle, and some house, with plenty of art pop to spare.

Goodman (Stacey Greene, that is) is a Kentucky based folk and country singer who usually works in the traditional forms with some rootsy southern rock influences injected into her music in varying proportions. She has a raw presentation that evokes dirty country roads and dusty roadside bars, with bluesy, earthy tones running through her songs. That is not to say that her rock does not veer into an indie direction now and then. Her songwriting draws from a personal place with themes centered around realities of life in a small town in rural America in the South intermingled with a melancholic sense of loss that remains constant at the surface or thereabouts, delivered in a quivering voice that keeps her emotions out in the open.
