In a news release Friday, the #Ontario provincial government announced the #FerreroGroup, makers of #Nutella, will be investing $445 million in its production facility at 1 Ferrero Boulevard. The planned upgrades will result in an additional 500 jobs and support expanded production, including #FerreroRocher chocolate squares, the company’s first new product launch outside of #Europe.

Aber wahrscheinlich täte ich das auch aufs normale, lange nicht mehr geschlemmt.

When I go to the supermarket, I will often choose generic alternatives to branded goods; how different can peanuts or cornflakes really be?

Nevertheless, I'm going to stick with Nutella in future. "HEB Hazlenut Spread With Cocoa" stands in the same relation to the original as CZ to diamond; in neither case should one try to fob off the one you love with the imitation.

Oh, überraschend lecker 😋 Nutella gibt es auch »Plant based«? Jetzt bin ich kein Veganer und es könnte mir egal sein, aber auf Laktose zu verzichten kann auch andere Gründe haben *Bauchgrummel*. Die pflanzliche Variante schmeckt mir sogar besser als das Original. Die Gläser erkennt ihr schon von Weitem am hellgrünen Deckel.

Wenigstens steht diesmal außer Frage, dass das Original und Ersatzprodukt gleich ungesund sind 😅

My home made “nutella” recipe:
1/4 melted 85% black chocolate bar
1/4 melted unsalted butter
1/2 ground walnuts or hazelnuts
Optionally 1 tbsp of panela brown cane sugar for 400g of total product.

Sugar content: black chocolate bar 14% * 1/4 + butter 0.6% * 1/4 + walnuts 2.6% * 1/2 = 5.7% (about the same as milk). Plus another 1% when adding panela sugar.

Kids devour it when spread on bread.

Shop-bought:
* Nutella has 56.3% sugar, with 13% hazelnuts only.
* Bonne Mamam hazenult and cocoa spread has 51% sugar, with 20% hazelnuts only.

Home made is also cheaper, by weight. There really isn’t any good reason whatsoever for buying “nutella” on a shop.
None whatsoever. It’s like buying hazelnut- and cocoa-flavoured sugar with palm oil.
