The communications director for the White House Office of Management & Budget
Before joining the #Trump admin as the communications director for the #OMB, #RachelCauley served on the board of the #PatriotFreedomProject. The nonprofit group was founded in direct response to the arrest of Hale-Cusanelli on #Jan6 charges.
“We look forward to working with you to restore public access to apportionment data in accordance with statute,” they wrote.
The letter was signed by Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma & Senator Susan Collins of Maine, the #Republican chairs of the #House & #Senate #appropriations cmtes, & the 2 senior #Democrats on those panels, Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut & Senator Patty Murray of Washington.
The top 2 #Republicans & #Democrats on the congressional #appropriations cmtes are quietly protesting the #Trump WH’s decision to take down a special website tracking federal #spending, escalating a battle between #Congress & Trump over spending powers.
In a previously undisclosed letter sent last month to #RussVought, the director of #OMB, the lawmakers questioned the rationale for shutting down the website, which they & advocacy groups said was a violation of the #law.

Ok y'all...I was going to take a rainy, lupus flare day and try to ignore the world and paint for a while, cause if the sun is out, I got too much stuff to do and then I'm too tired when the sun goes down. But then...my news feed blared at me like Pete Hegseth had just texted me war plans (again), and I saw the new #TrumpsterFire #budget....and are you fucking kidding me with this?
According to the #OMB summary, Trump's 2026 budget would cut over $4.5 billion from Title I and K-12 education programs, $4 billion from a program that provides heating assistance to low-income households, $2.4 billion from safe drinking water funding, $26 billion from rental assistance programs, $17 billion from the National Institutes of Health, $100 million from environmental justice programs, $1.3 billion from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( #NOAA ), and $4.6 billion from the Labor Department.
Oh, and TRILLIONS in tax cuts to the wealthiest humans.
Read #Trump's #budget proposal & its cover letter by #OMB director / #Project2025 architect #RussVought.
#Senate Democratic Leader #ChuckSchumer (NY) on Friday called Trump’s 2026 budget a “gut punch” to #families.
The budget proposes a $163 billion cut to federal spending next year, which would eliminate more than a fifth of the non-military spending excluding mandatory benefit programs.
#Trump is set to propose $163 billion in cuts to non-defense #DiscretionarySpending for the 2026 fiscal year in what's known as a "skinny budget" Friday.
The cuts are for spending #Congress authorizes each year—which does not include spending on safety nets like #Medicare, #Medicaid & #SocialSecurity.
The cuts…represent a 22.6% cut in projected #spending for the current fiscal year [as if costs weren’t going up]. They were confirmed by the White House #OMB….

§6 General Provisions [notably this puts #OMB Dir & #Project2025 architect #RussVought essentially in charge]
“the functions of the Director of the Office of Management & Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or #legislative proposals.”
President #Biden rescinded the order after he took office, but after taking office again in Jan, #Trump signed a new EO reinstating & renaming it.
Trump & his allies laid the groundwork for a new admin stocked w/ #loyalists. #ScheduleF was a significant part of that plan.
Many of the Trump allies who pushed for Schedule F now have key roles in the admin, including Dpty Chief of Staff #StephenMiller & #OMB Dir #RussVought.
#Project2025’s #RussVought, #Trump’s director of the Office of Management & Budget [#OMB], previously endorsed an end to the federal #voucher program. He [falsely] wrote in 2022 that the #Section8 program in particular “brings with it crime, decreased property values, & results in dependency & subsidized irresponsibility.”
Concerning for space traffic management and the potential for space debris generation: the U.S. federal 'budget blueprint' would also end #TraCSS (Traffic Coordination System for Space) as we know it: “The #OMB document … proposes a transfer of the Traffic Coordination System for Space to a nonprofit or a private sector partner, which could be a boon for Elon Musk’s #SpaceX.”

#NASA’s #science budget could be cut nearly in half under an early version of #Trump’s #budget proposal to #Congress, a move that would terminate billions of dollars’ worth of ongoing & future missions….
The budget plan, sent to NASA by the #RussVought led #OMB, would give NASA’s Science Mission Directorate $3.9B, down from its current budget of about $7.3B….
Update. "Global Science in Danger"
https://blog.scielo.org/en/2025/03/26/global-science-in-danger/
"Recently, the government of the United States of America (USA) has frightened the scientific community…by censoring terms used in scientific communications and funding proposals…The idea that this is just relevant to American scientists or scientists from elsewhere working in America is not correct; with researchers the world over being affected. In the Netherlands, for instance, some researchers monitoring the state of forests…have received email messages, ostensibly from the #USGS (United States Geological Survey) and labelled “High Priority”. A list of questions was attached with the request to respond with answers within a week of receiving the email. The USGS indicated that sending these messages had been ordered by the United States Office of Management and Budget (#OMB)."
@dan613 @CivilEats #BrookeRollins is doing exactly the #project2025 playbook for #usda. And more. She is the secretary of the u s department of #agriculture. All the actions of that agency are under #oversight of #congress.
When we fight with precision using the right tools for the job, we win. When we lie down and cry about a single person, we don’t.
#omb director wrote the playbook. minions are carrying out and carrying on, beyond t’s wildest dreams.

Update. "#Trump Executive Order Targets #IMLS for Closure"
https://www.wordsandmoney.com/trump-executive-order-targets-imls-for-closure/
"In a March 14 Executive Order, President Donald Trump has targeted seven more federal agencies for permanent closure, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
If some parts of IMLS are "statutorily required" and cannot be shut down by an executive order, the #OMB has seven days to show it.
"EveryLibrary is hosting a petition [to keep IMLS open]…The American Library Association has…weighed in with a statement."
@exador23 @dancingdogs About 2009 or 2010 there was a major breach at #OMB that exposed virtually all Federal workers’ financial disclosures (e.g., Form OGE450). Mine included. Thankfully, the government provided lifetime identity protection service to all those affected. The frauds started to happen and continue to this day. I am grateful to have the #identity service which has provided very useful information. I hope the government provides such a service for everyone whose private data was exposed by #DOGE, but that doesn’t seem likely. One life lesson from the OMB breach and others that have affected me and many other people: your data will not remain private, no matter who gives you assurance of privacy.

A 2nd judge indefinitely blocks Trump’s sweeping #OMB funding freeze, which has by now been rescinded, but by this order Trump is indefinitely prohibited from implementing an across-the-board funding freeze under a different name.
