#parkrun

Loved doing Wes Mitchel Park #parkrun in Tin Can Bay and after my 24.35 I took over as finish token hander outerer for vollie credit 40. It was my 113th course and 284th parkrun. I took train up from BNE to Gympie then cycled 55km to lovely TCB, stayed the night, now heading home, a bit exhausted

I completed the Couch to 5K plan last week but with running for 30 minutes continuously. This evening I finally achieved a full 5K and managed it in just under a 35 minute pace. #Parkrun this Saturday hopefully.

Forgot to mention #parkrun yesterday - the usual 3 lap course, got around in 35½ minutes.

The 2nd and 3rd laps felt really different from each other - I'm a run/walk parkrunner, never manage to run the whole thing, and lap 3 was more walking. Felt really frustrating, but somehow both 2nd and 3rd laps took the same amount of time, about 12 minutes each. Guess the running on 3 must have been faster to compensate 🤷

Still, I look a lot happier in the photos this week.

@Dave3307 I'm at the opposite end. They have an 8am start time, and the added 1/2 drive makes it a little hard for me to get there on a Saturday morning. But I'm interested in meeting the community and I honestly haven't raced a 5k in a while. I think my speed has been picking up from all my training.
@TheBreadmonkey also makes his #Parkrun always seem fun.

The good news: I got a 6 mile run in today and survived. I've slowly been increasing my mileage weekly.

The bad news: I stupidly did this at the hottest time of day. Totally beat.

The other good news: Someone has started a #parkrun near me! Well, kind of near me. Close enough! It's like 25 minutes away. I've signed up and will be trying them out in the future. It should be nice. I don't really like running alone anymore and look forward to running with others on Saturday.

Today was #ParkRun 15 for me. It was also my third time volunteering, and this time I chose a role that would let me still do the 5K. I did the First Timers welcome and also was the official ParkWalker. It was good to get outside and moving before the heat of the day fully sets in. Someone present was celebrating 250 ParkRuns!

We headed east again for our dose of #Parkrun tourism, to Lydney this time. Contrary to first impression of a sedate trot round the lake, this course was an exciting mix of tarmac, gravel, woodland, muddy downhills, a steep bank to scramble up, scenic canal path and mini waterfall. Marauding geese added to the mix - great fun!

#parkrun got absolutely soaked but the new shoes effect did work and a jump back to under 34 minutes is deffo signs of progress. It's clear that adding in regular swimming and walking this time is helping lots. Now Lidl bakery, do your worst!

Today's the day. #Harvel5

I don't know why I'm hashtagging it - literally noone else here will be going. Maybe in the future someone will look out of curiosity and be astounded there was a fellow traveller on the same path. Who knows.

What I do know is....... FIVE MILE BEER RUN, BABY!

Should be interesting. I've got over the initial jitters and think I'm quite excited. Although bits of me ache I forgot existed from the other nights 'training' (running about like idiots).

I'm therefore volunteering at #ParkRun this morning whilst Trish in solidarity is just forging ahead and doing her 100th run without me, whilst I'm stuck on a measly 92. No matter - I've let the organisers know so we can give her a big hooray and I'm doing the funnel this morning which I quite like.

Ramble ramble. So..... This is possibly the last time you ever hear from me. But at least I will have died as I lived..... in a freak beer drinking running incident in the woods. Hurrah!

Have a great day, everyone. X
