The Conspirators (Columbo, 1978) was the last episode for a decade. It told the story of a mercurial poet in LA - Joe Devlin (Clive Revill) - who’s working for the IRA. He murders a treacherous gunrunner. The episode was broadcast at a time of escalating IRA activity.
